Grindhouse pulled from normal UK Release.

Anyone else finding this annoying as hell? Been waiting to see Grindhouse since I heard of it... Now, because the movie only made $23,000,000 it's not being released in the UK till further notice.

Atleast, not when/how it was meant to.

Was meant to come out today as a full 3h~ movie (1st part being 80m, second being 90m) and now it's expected (to make money) to be cut back into two seperate films.

Won't be going to see the separated films since it defeats the point of the venture.

Honestly I think they missed the boat on this, it's so obviously a genre flick that the Weinsteins can't have expected it to make bucketloads of money at the cinema. Instead they should have marketed it as a drive in movie with roughly built shanties of drive in cinemas since it's fairly likely that this kind of gimmick would be something people who want to see it would appreciate.

Meh, i'll wait a few months and buy the dvd instead

From the sounds of things i'd prefer it as two seperate movies as if i remeber rightly Tarnatino's film won critical acclaim as a stand alone movie.

Problem with Grindhouse was (according to Tarantino) they had to cut their films (including a lot of character dialogue and development) not just to the bone but past it. Meaning it lost a lot of it's story.

I'm still looking forward to these....

Cutting it way past what's reasonable was partially the point of the double feature, same with the missing reels and dirtied look. They wanted to capture the spirit of the grindhouse genre (no experience of that meself, too young for it i guess )

To be honest it's a vague memory of something I read on BBC, it was to do with Cannes.

The whole film screamed "pretentious wank" from the minute it was announced. Its one thing to pinch ideas from B-movies as part of your signature style, but its another to actually make a B-movie. They were called B-movies for a reason, usually because they were cheap, with poor production values and little merit. And its not like he hasn´t been down this road before with From Dusk Til Dawn. I wish Tarantino would pack it in with all this shit and get on with his much-threatened war movie, even if it does sound exactly the same as The Dirty Dozen.

tarantino hasn't made a good fim since reservoir dogs and is without doubt the most overrated director in america. i'd doubt death proof will be any different but regardless, i won't watch it.

still, if you try to make a b-movie then you ought to expect it to flop really...

i disagree about making b-movies gaff, it's only a problem if you're an osbcenely high profile director and your supposed b-movie cost $50m to make.

They're called "B-movies" in the same way singles have a "B-side" it was what you saw before "tonights feature" at the cinema.
