Cryptopsy, Bathtub Shitter (ignore the stupid name, they really pwn.) Nasum, Brutal Truth, Bolt Thrower, Death, Nile, Dying Fetus...Anal ****.

My fucking god, that has to be the FUNNIEST genre name ever. Truly awful. Had never heard of it as a genre until now either, seems to be like it's one of those 'filler' genres someone's made up due to bands not quite fitting in genres. It seems metal fans are obsessed with genre: they can't let a band with different genre influences not be categorised into a genre. Very annoying.
Oh and speaking of genres:

Grooving and thrashing at the same time would be quite an accomplishment.Groove Thrash
Has this got anything to do with He-Man?Epic Power Doom

(band,albums)
Brutal Truth, Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses;
Need To Control;
Assuck, Misery Index;
Napalm Death, Scum;
From Enslavement To Obliteration;
Death By Manipulation;
Swallowing Shit, Discography;
Infest, Discography;
Terrorizer, World Downfall;
Anal ****, I Like It When You Die;
Naked City, The Torture Garden;
Nasum, Human 2.0;
The Locust, Plague Soundscapes;
Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope.
The last band are the Pig Destroyer guys minus their drummer. The above list is pure grindcore as opposed to death metal, goregrind etc. Grindcore is the greatest music since J S Bach and renders all other forms of music obselete. It is anything but a 'filler' genre and has a history stretching back nearly 20 years. It is not to everyone's taste: more for obsessives like me! Ask an insider to make you a compilation CD for the best introduction.
Check out www.relapse.com, www.earache.com, www.terrorizer.com and www.slapaham.com for more info.
I've never heard Bathtub Shitter and am off to check them out immediately.
Enjoy!
Have their debut, "Reek of Putrefaction", and is one of my favourite extreme albums. Not so keen on their latter more comercial stuff(Heartwork).shanks said:Carcass:
The early cd's around the shift from 80's to 90's was grind and later moved into more of a death sound. Excellent music.
Saw these live with Mastadon the other month. Didn't think much of them at all. To me, they came accross as extreme metal for people who like nu metal. In other words, a bit shit :/ Crowd seem to like them though. But then again, most of the crowd were your typical rockcity trendys.Nostromo:
