Is it one book, is any of it avaliable to read on the internets?

Any decent films on it worth watching?

Dont know anything about it but after a question on QI it sounded like it could be an interesting read.

The Caucasus ("Kavkaz" in Russian) range runs for only 1,210 km (750 miles) from the Black Sea to the Caspian, but its history delves deep. it's all about Medusa, Theseus and the minotaur, Hercules and other such myths and legends. I'm sure if you search internet it won't be hard to come up with stuff to read.

Lots and lots of good reading material, its a bit late over here now and the only thing that comes off the top of my head is the Illiad and Odyssey, a good read so long you get a good translation.

There are lots and lots of really good books out there worth reading about Heracles, Jason and the Argonauts and many many more as well as their Gods and Demi Gods and Titans. Take the time to read em if you cba worthwhile imo.

I guess you could read Wikipedia on it for a good start, there's a whole host of stuff on many different mythologies, took my first characters name from it back in the day (Galatea).

What kind of movies are you looking for? There's a good few old fantasy films that take from it, Clash of the Titans and Jason & the Argonauts probably being the best known.

to me the essential books would be Thomas Bulfinch Myths of Greece and Rome, i would say he's pretty definitive. If you want to get more into it get hold of The Metamorphoses by Ovid which is pretty much the basis for all modern interpretations of greek and roman myths. Ted Hughes reinterpretation of it (On Ovid) is pretty cool to read too.

A use for my 4yrs learning latin! They were an arse to read in latin though, Homer was a cock for using such flowery language

There's LOADS to read up on it

Start with Homer's Iliad & Odyssey - that'll give you the flavour for the period. There are literally hundreds of bits of mythology in those books that form sayings se use today, and that have spun off more Hollywood movies than...well lotsa stuff.

Then pop down to your local library and see what they've got.

You might like The Clashing Rocks by Ian Serailier (or something like that)

Titan Quest will teach you everything about greek mythology in the first chapter and the addon =))

If that doesn't satisfy you....read the Ilias or read up on the greek gods on wiki =)
