My favourite film was Zombieland by a mile. I also just watched "From Paris with Love" which was a good action flick.

hmmmm...

The Hurt Locker (war/action)
Let the right one in (horror)
UP (pixar)
Drag me to Hell (horror)
*Moon* (scifi/thriller)
District 9 (action)
Zombieland (comedy)
The damned united (maybe not if you dont like football)

all fairly obvious I suppose. If you haven't seen moon yet, than that would be my main one to advise, damn but is sam rockwell a good actor

The idea of blockbusters is to make money so her film was the bollocks in that regard :). Hurt locker was a load of non accurate shite. I read a book by a EOD guy who has been out there and that film is miles off.

The Hurt Locker was one of the best films i saw that year while Avatar was not :p

It's only an opinion anyway, Tohtori might like it.

I loved Avatar, but I think it was the whole cinema 3d experience. If I hadnt seen it at the pics in 3d, but on DVD instead, I dont think it would have been as good

I went to watch a danish documentary called Armadillo two days ago. It's probably the best documentary I've seen :)

it gives a very realistic view on what's happening in afghanistan atm.

I'm picky as hell, so what someone else might consider a great film, I tend to think it's a good film.

Avatar counts as a great film IMO, but I liked Dances With Wolves as well.
I saw Hurt Locker last night and I wonder why the hell it won so many Oscars. It's alright, but it isn't anything amazing. All I can think is that it won Oscars because of patriotism and US flag-waving.

I loved Avatar, even the adverts for Hurt Locker have put me off. Love these quotes from The Big Bang Theory on Avatar:

Raj: In Avatar, when they have sex on pandora they hook up their ponytails, so we know that their ponytails are like their junk.
Wolowitz: Yeah, so?
Raj: So when they ride horses and fly on the birds, they also use their ponytails...
Wolowitz: What's your point?
Raj: My point is if I were a horse or a bird, I'd be very nervous around James Cameron.

Going by date of films i've quite enjoyed

2009:

Inkheart (bit of a kids film but it was enjoyable at least)
Taken (thriller, Neeson is a badass)
Coraline (Animation)
Haunting in Connecticut (pretty standard Hollywood horror fare but found it better than some i've seen)
The Soloist (not seen but recommended to me)
The Hangover (Comedy, awesomeness)
Dead Snow (Norwegian horror with Nazi zombies)
Blood the Last vampire (not as terrible as you might think)
9 (Scifi animation)
Zombieland (zomcom ;))
Sherlock Holmes
Lesbian Vampire Killers (comedy)

2010:
Daybreakers
Shutter Island
Book of Eli

Not all great films but worth watching once at least :)

I thought this may be the case for me, but I bought the blu-ray and holy shit! I liked it even more. The 2D one has so much detail I never saw because of the flashy 3D shit.

Yeah but it wasnt trying to be a documentary was it? It's a work of fiction and so can't be judged on how accurate it is. As a work of entertainment, because of the way suspense was built in it, I found it really entertaining.

This is the worst film i have ever seen. It is a massively overrated piece of shit. Sigourney Weaver got it right.

Ok that prompted me to go look at the link. Although not able to comment on any comparison between the two films, this section is ace:

"That being said, I'll be damned if I let someone say tits shouldn't be a determining factor in any decision. This is AMERICA, goddammit, land of the free. My ancestors didn't come over here just to drink themselves stupid because they were caught fucking potatoes in Ireland. That's only half of the story. Three quarters at best."

Thus far I've enjoyed Avatar and Prince of Persia a lot. And yes, Zombieland is "teh sex". Robin Hood and Clash of the Titans were both underwhelming and very disappointing.

Iron Man 2 was fun, if not as good as 1. Scarlet Johansson in a cat suit with red hair though! Better than viagra.

I just watched Undisputed 2 and 3 and found out this guy is actually a decent martial arts actor. Film plots are abit ropey but its decent Martial Art fight scenes.
