Who is or was the greatest nation on Earth, it's your opinion, and it's your say. Americans created the car, but the British created the tank. You decide whos the best nation or was the best nation on Earth...

How about the Romans ?
Did it all thousands of years ago ?

Or the Greeks ? - not really an empire cos they were too laid back to bother with all that conquering but their philosophy and scientific insights shaped the modern world ?

I'm going to disagree with you, I do hope you don't mind.

I'm not even going to explain why. We'll just leave it at that. I'm in a good mood.

kthx.

Never heard of the Delian League ? Effectively the Athenian Empire.

Or of course there's Philip and Alexander of Macedon who were quite big on Empires.

god

what a bunch of muppet kids that have decided to come here...

america isnt shit, they are'nt populated by fat people, and they are not dumb.

the uk isnt the best country in the world, as "best" is a relative term. Infact this whole "best country in the world?" thing is utter crap.

if i ask have you been to the US, your answer (if u were telling the truth) would be 99% yes... but obviously you havnt otherwise you wouldnt put the country down.

no country is shit, they all have their own attributes...

anyway, enough of this...

Who does that guy think he is, saying best is a relative term, obviously he is American, the dumb ass.

:upyours:

The american english is just plain confusing, for example why do they call a road a pavement, I mean come on its been called a road for the last 2 and half thousand years, so what gives the Americans the right to change that.

Well at least we have chips here and not tiny fries

Never ever heard it used in place of road myself.

what gives the Americans the right to change that.
Er, dialect change? Their attempt to individualise themselves from our european roots?

for one... the american english is actually the original english used when the pilgrams landed in america form the boat that left plymouth...

so... it's our language that has changed.

Er Frankie, you know nothing if you think that, there is no such thing as original English. If you read about these things you'll know that almost all launguages originate from Latin and arabic. You'll find traces of Latin in English, take my name for example, Ignus Latin for fire, words such as ignite, ignition means to burn or set alight.
The English used by the pilgrims wouldn't have made sense to any of us certain words would have but a lot of the words we use today would mean something else to them.
