Great argument this morning

What a morning already...

I live next door to a doctors surgery, and they have 3 barking bays.
Its ok to park in those bays so long as its after 8pm and you are gone at 8am.

I came out bang on 8am to move my van, when i got there they had completely blocked me in bumper to bumper. So i knocked on the door to ask one to move.

Doctor said to me "Are you parking in a doctors bay?"
"Yes"
"You cant park there"
"Yes i can. It was before 8am"
"No your not allowed to park there ever"
"Yes you are"
"No your not"
"Look i've lived here 10 years i know you are allowed to park there"

Another Doctor came out
"Yes you are allowed to park there but you were supposed to be moved at 8"
"Well its now five past and i would have been gone by 8 if you you hadnt blocked me in"

Then another doctor comes out
"But we start at 7.45"
Wasnt in the mood by then "Not my problem the sign says fine until 8am

I hate these intelligent people types they proper talk down when addressing you

In the end i just went ok right sorry i'm in the doctors bay i'll make sure its moved earlier next time.

I was not in the wrong there was i? i went out at 8 to move so i would have been fine

Without the sorry, probably the way i would've gone. "Yeah i'll be more precise next time, now mind moving so i can clear it?"

Also, your clock might have been wrong etc etc.

If a sign says 0800, it's best to move it 0755

you should have come out bang on earlier and been sitting in , engine running, driving away at 8am, so in fact they are right

ahh but if you want to get really anal they blocked me in at 7.45 which the 3rd doc admitted so regardless if i was 30 seconds late or not i still wouldnt have been able to get out

Dont even begin to question if you are in the wrong. You arent.

I would suggest leaving your van there every morning until 8am and let them block you in. Then go through the whole "having to ask them to move their cars" business. They will soon get sick of it.

The thing is, spot-on-8am is when the place must be clear. Same goes with other parking spaces.

The 8am is a deadline for the space to be clear, not "final time to move car".

Now Sparx, if you REALLY want to get anal about it, you have to go there and complain about moving cars 5 to 8 :lol:

i make a point of getting out there on time as i have had 3 parking tickets out there so i know how much of a hitler that parking attendant is so wont give him the satisfaction of giving me another one hehe

Some people in here have lost the plot. Yes he should get in the car and leave around 7:55 to avoid the 8am issue, but these doctors are parking there at 7:45 which is 10 minutes before he 'should' be driving off.

I'd say just move it a couple of minutes before, no need to be a **** and keep it there to the very last second. There is something called decency.

However if the doctors come at 7:45 and blocks you in, and can't see what they are doing wrong, they are ***** too, and you should clearly key their cars

I'm guessing here ofc having not actually seen the place but:

I imagine that what you'll probably find is the case is that the doctors surgey owns the land and as such is "letting you park there when they arn't using it". The problem with being pedantic about it is that they will probably just change the rules so you can't park there ever.
If it's clearly their parking space then it's probably good manners to make an effort to have your van clear before they get there and need to park for the day. I'm fairly sure that if you stabbed yourself and crawled next door blood pouring from you at 7:50 you'd ben fairly pissed off if they sat there pointing at the door of the surgery and said, sorry, we don't open until 8. (although knowing the NHS that's probably exactly what would happen).
