My current card isn't cutting it anymore with my new tripple monitor set up (5040x1050) so i have decided to splash out on a new gfx card going for the geforce 295gtx.

My only concern is will my cosair 620w power supply be enough t o power it.

Rest of my current setup 4gb pc10000 ram, q6600 cpu, 2 x hds, dvd drive.

Help me obi wan tom nobi your my only hope.

pc10000 ram? gosh o0

I'm thinking that unless your q6600 is heavily overclocked all will be well. however...that gforce will require two or more 8 (or 6, I forget) pin molexes iirc on the 12V rail stuck into the rear of it to power it directly. you'd best check if you have them free or can make some by sticking adapters that either come with the card or with your mobo on to some regular cables from your psu.

I thought 295's were as rare as hen's teeth? What games are you looking at playing? A 4870x2 may be a better buy for you, particularly as they are about £100 cheaper and perform similarly.

Also, as you say, you will need to upgrade your PSU as the 295 is a dual card solution, and nvidias cards are power fiends at the moment.

According to corsair a 520w psu will run it fine
Corsair psu calc thingy majij at scans website

guess ill find out tommorow

edit on a side note the 4870x2 draws a hell of alot more power than the 295gtx under full load according to all benchmarks ive seen 400 ish w compared to 295-300

Good luck! According to the stats the 295 alone needs 289 watts, and a 680W PSU is recommended by Nvidia.

Well you'll see tomorrow. I think that a 650W+ PSU is needed for any dual card solution.

Ideally get a good quality PSU, I personally have a Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 850W which fits my needs well.
