I have an Asus V7100 GeForce 2 32mb TV Out Card, which cost me £60 a few weeks back....

But i cant help but notice the Problems im gettin.. for instance, i run my Resolution at 800*600 and its fine, but, if i go to the 1024*<whatever> the Screen has waves coimin from all over the place.

It also happens in CounterStrike when i use it itself (Not runnin thru GameSpy) the whole screen jumps.

I was usin the Asus Drivers i was given ,but since i installed the NVidia Detonator Drivers it overwrit the Asus ones.

Anyone have a clue as to why my Screen Jumps when i change Resolution? Its annoying i liked the 1024 res...

Try enabling vsync. And check your refresh rates are supported by your monitor.

Yep thats exactly the problem i had m8, solved by enabling v-sync.It will limit your fps to the refresh rate of your monitor . :)
Lol I just realised I exactly repeated what ch3tan said. Oh well :)

Either that or your monitor wont support 1024x768

If it does then its the v-sync

Its NOT really a geforce 4, its a geforce 4 mx, which only perfomrs marginally better than the current gf2 mx cards. So its not even as good as a gf3. Basically its nvidia taking the piss with naming their cards to get sales.

The price of about 80 quid should have given it away :)

just a little too cheap for a l337 ge-force 4

Ok, so if you turn v sync on your fps doesn't go above your refresh rate.

Is there any way to get cstrike to use the same refresh rate as your desktop or something?

Just want my 100 fps to non flicker :)

Or am i goin to have to put v sync on if flicker gets on my tits too much?

buy a decent monitor then

BTW what is your CPU, if you have a fast GFX card and a naff CPU that isnt going to help much

Well i have a decent 20" which i've had for about 2 years, and my current comp spec is:

Pentium 3 800MHz Socket 370
256 DDR Ram
Asus GeForce 2 V7100
Soundblaster 128
56k modem
Asus TUA266 motherboard

well should be able to get far more than 60fps then.
Have you checked your config to make sure you havent got fps capped at 61?

I got an old 14" which i run on a server that does 1074x768 nicely, but can't do 800x600 !

One other thing. Does Windows itself know, what monitor you have?
Or has it got it down as a PnP monitor or "default" - if the monitor is set wrong in the Device/hardware manager then you can get some screw ups with display as you describe.

Well, i have a "Hitachi 20MVX" which i cant find any drivers for at all. So i use the Windows PnP as Drivers.

Also i just went into my CS Config, and found the fps_max set as 72.0, so i changed it to 99... but still in Netgraph it shows 60FPS all teh time

Also i should point out, that on my OLD GeForce 2, i could have Resolution set as 1024*768... but NOT on this one

Right if you are running XP/2k you can use nvidia refresh rate fix. ONly for nvidia cards on thoose OS's obvioulsy.

http://www.guru3d.com/files/ (go to videocard utilities > generic tools)

98 never gave me a problem with refresh rates, play with the refresh rate settings and your nvidia control panal and see what you can find.

Super gray...

Have you set video mode to openGL or Direct3D????

I was also getting a piss 60fps with direct3D and a better spec machine.

Changed to openGL,(using latest detonator drivers on geforce2 GTS), set fps max to 99 and unchcked vsync..

Can easily get a solid 99 fps.

also netgraph 1 and 2 was showing a false reading for my fps so I use the command

cl_showfps 1 (i think), this gave me a pretty accurate reading.

Leg.
