The following is what I would advise if you have graphics glitches/artifacts while running DAOC, or any game or possibly even just in windows.

Most graphics bugs are a symptom of graphics driver problems.

Make sure you have checked your drivers are the latest version around, not some rubbish off a year old CD you got with the card. Check the official sight (nvidia.com / ati.com) for your card. Make sure your old drivers where uninstalled properly, and that you follow all the instructions for installing your new drivers. Do the same with your mobo drivers.

There are other things that can cause glitches, an overheating gfx card or overclocked system may produce glitches. A faulty mobo (AGP/PCIE) slot can sometimes cause glitches. Bad memory can result in artifacts.

As you can see there are a fair few things that can cause strange stuff onscreen, but my advice to anyone who has such a problem is always the same, however much you think its not your gfx card drivers, do check them a 2nd time before assuming that your mobo/gfx card is borked.

Oh and one last obvious but really important tip. Whatever you did just before your PC started giving those glitches, thats probably what caused it. Sounds obvious, but its easy to get sidetracked, if you got a new graphics card and are getting glitches its not going to be your mobo/cpu.
