Keep getting this error on vista a few seconds after my screen goes black (for about 3-4 seconds) any ideas? I read around on the net that it could be PSU related but I doubt that, just stuck an antec 800W psu in (today) and graphics card doesnt eat all that.

Also read it could be drivers :x

I think I had similar things happening when my 8800 died. Fortunately it was a BFG with lifetime warranty. Yours still under warranty?

Quite a common problem with nvidia cards this, I had it. Get the latest drivers, run drivercleaner, then install them.

It can also be memory, ran memtest?

Dunno, the odd part is I stuck a new psu/new ram into the pc today and i've been playing on it since like 11am up until now none stop, for about 8 hours it was fine no errors or nowt then the errors stated up when I installed some drivers (so yea primarily you'd think it was drivers) so I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and its still doing it, a friend suggested trying lower ones but before I do that I wanted to know what else could cause it.

Might concur on a faulty graphics card but would be an idea to check another PSU just to rule it out. 1. psu is cheaper and 2. just because its new or a decent brand doesn't necessarily mean it's not faulty itself/part of a bad batch or something :/

I'm getting the same thing, sometimes it changes the screen resolution afterwards and I have to restart. It is over a year since I put it together though, so am well overdue a pull apart and clean up. Am gonna try that first with drivers and stuff before going down the faulty hardware route.

I used to have this on an old redeon card i had years ago, really pissed me offf for like a year or so... then 1 day i was messing with the DRAM speed settings in bios and it never happened again, maybe try that.
