Was wondering the same thing. I've spent like nearly a 100k on 3 different properties thinking that they would generate more money for me eventually and I find out that they are nothing but save points.

I'm thinking that it might become compulsory for you to buy them in later missions as you attempt to take control of the 3 cities like in Vice City. I'm hoping that that is the case, otherwise I've wasted a lot of my money.

gameplay versus graphics my friend. And gameplay wins for sure. I hated the combine harvester mission, but since then its gotten better and better

I didn't say that wasn't the case, otherwise I wouldn't still be playing. ;) My original point was that I'm glad this was the last PS2 exclusive. After that Bodhi- the Ps2 fanboy spat his dummy.

The properties are just save points and vehicle storage (and boring wardrobes). Most of the houses in VC had nothing to do with making money or part of the story, it's business properties that do that.

Heh heh, I know what you mean. It took me a few goes. Manual aiming in GTA isn't very accurate.

Finally got into the countryside and I'm loving it. I got onto a dirt bike pretty soon after starting that section and saw a house I wanted to buy but I was a few thousand short. So I started the long trek all the way over to Grove street to pick up my accumulating cash.

Get all the bloody way there to find it's not there any more. The second I get off the bike I get a phone call saying that I should steer clear of the city and to go meet someone a few hundred metres away from where I just was. :(

Ah well. Dirt bikes on that terrain are great fun anyway. :)

I love this game. The catelina mission are fun but infuriating at the same time. THE CAR'S ON FIRE!! GET OUT YOU DUMB BITCH!!! *BOOM!* DOH!

*re-starts*

Im a Xbox Fanboy but I bought GTA for the PS2 this weekend and acquired my dads PS2. And I have to say the Graphics are what I come to expect from the PS2 but the Gameplay is great, though I don't know if you agree but the police and pretty dumb in this one they give the chase up far to quickly, and the police don't care if a smack into a car next to them its only when I run them over or smack into the back do I get a single star, maybe I need to unlock the other parts of the state to get harder police.

After your shocking performance in IRC the other night I don't think you're really in any position to be calling anyone a fanboy tbh.

Oh and it's far from the last PS2 exclusive. I can think of two out before Xmas (well, one is dodgy) that are getting my money straight away.

I imagine he was meaning GTA exclusive...

As for GTA:SA great game ... just started on the RC missions though so it might go downhill from here :D

What with all the ultra-sensitive console types in here I reckon I might just keep harrassing this one.

Anyway, isn't my fault if San Andreas sold out round here is it?

People never learn and just keep on feeding him :)

Bodhi is FH's resident troll but he can be quite refreshing and give some much needed slapdowns sometimes.

If people didn't keep biting it would be a bit boring tbh ;).

:fluffle: to Bodhi.

I'm looking for a job and will probably have one soon so I won't be around here or on Source as much. Anyways, we shouldn't be discussing it here. I'll come on fh.cs some time.

Pain in the arse trying to get hold of this fucking game, when i want it. :/

Courtesy of GTAGaming.com
Yesterday I reported on the amazing queues that formed in some games retailers in the UK on Friday morning, San Andreas' launch day. Today, the official UK games charts were released, with San Andreas finding its way to the top of the All Formats & PS2 charts, ahead of games like Fifa 2005, Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Amazingly, UK sales monitor Chart-Track has estimated that the game sold 677,000 copies in the country alone over just two days of trading (Friday/Saturday). This brings the total sales to around £24.2million ($44.3m), and surpasses previous titles in the series like GTA: Vice City by more than double. Even more astoundingly, only 10 other PS2 titles have sold more copies in their entire lifetimes! This is great news for Rockstar North, Rockstar Games, Take 2 Interactive and of course - their shareholders.

That's pretty incredible sales figures right there though, you have to admit.

oO

Rockstar deserve it though, it's a damn good series of games(except for GTA2 :p ) and the radio talkshows from GTA3/VC are class! I'd buy SA just to hear the new stations.

I hate publishing deals, rockstar should tell Sony to "FO" and do a multi-platform release already! That would easily take it over 1M sales over the weekend!... + I can't wait for the PC version :x

on a side note, are there any decent PS2 emulators about? :p

The reason why its a PS2 only release is Sony paid rockstar a hell of a lot of money for the exclusitivity deal. Given this deal was signed after GTA 3's release can imagine the figure involved is in the tons of millions.

Hopefully the deal carries on to the PS3, as exclusitivity deals do seem to give more focus and deliver a better product in the end rather than having to tailor the product for all consoles / PC for release.

I can't see Sony paying more than $20M for the deal. They need the profits from the software to support console sales. Granted, holding exclusive rights to GTA:SA will sell some PS2s, but I still think Rockstar would've made just as much money if they went with a full release. Now is the best time to sell, while the hype is at its peak. After a few months, every GTA fanatic will have played it at his friends house or loaned a PS2 etc... when it's released on XBox and PC, the number of pirated copies will be higher as those players will be prepared to wait an extra day or two to acquire the game through dubios methods.

Whats wrong with GTA 2 I loved it was my fav one until San Andreas, it looks nice the maps are huge with lots to do, some of the MODs were some of the best in the GTA series, and the mission where u picked up a number of Kirshanas and turned them into Hotdogs was one of the most memorable moments in my gaming history.

I blew all 4 million dollars of my money in a casino on those stupid 1million dollar roulette things. I had to load up my last save which was about 5 hours before. :\

I'm just hoping that they don't bring Vegas-style casinos to England irl if I can't hold down temptation in a computer game. :p

Just finished it with 41 hours played. An excellent game, easily the best in the series and probably the best game on the PS2.
