Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas first screenshots

Go here to see the first released screenshots for the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas, due for release this October.

They have apparently created a new engine for this one, but those shots don't look entirely different from Vice City, just enhanced slightly. They've possibly been touched up to, same as the first shots for GTA3 and VC.

PC version is bound by the six month PS2 exclusive deal, so I don't suppose we'll see it until May of next year.

Anyway, there they are.

Yeah, I was slightly disappointed too. That said, I still play Vice City pretty much every day, though I completed the missions a year ago. That's quite special, so even if this is a bit too similar to Vice City, I'm not complaining.

There's been a team at Rockstar North working on this since the release of GTA3 however, and rumblings suggest they're working their nuts off to make it special.

Looks aren't everything tho. I've said it before, and no doubt I'll say it again - I'll sacrifice looks for gameplay any day of the week. Hell the original GTA wasn't exactly a looker - but was fun as hell to play!

I wonder which era this is supposed to be set in.

Also lets not forget that the PS2 is quite an old machine, and the graphics can in no way hold up to the likes of the newest FPS's.

I'll start getting excited when they actually bother to design a game for hardware that isn't horrible, and massively out of date.

They really should have waited for the next gen of consoles, they could have pushed the game so far. Instead they decide to milk the ps2's worth, disappointing.
