Can't remember a pre-Grand National thread being on here, and before anyone looks, I haven't been arsed to look through the search engine to find one either as it's pointless.

So, on this day every year, people love Liverpool because horse racing doesn't have it's biases like footy does and it is an annual spectacle. Inevitably, there will be some among you who think it is a cruel sport. But this for me is the only way I can acknowledge my dad at his birthday as his ashes were scattered at the first fence. So for the third year running I will be having a nice bet on a couple of horses.

So, which horse will you choose as your bet this year? I already got mine sorted out, but will say when more peeps have replied to the thread.

I dont claim to know a lot about horse racing but one of my good mates is a jockey so i tend to follow his advice failing that i quite often try to back a Nicholls horse but even though he has Big fella thanks, Cornish set and eurotrek its Very hard to back against Ruby on my will even if he is favourite. Ill probably listen pretty hard to my jokey friend though he tends to do well.....having said all that however with the fences the way they are its half lottery anyway :p

Thanks for the reminder, every year i've only realised it's on about 30 seconds before the race begins so never get to put a bet on.

Not so much into horse racing but ever since i saw my first Grand National several years ago i've watched it every year and it's always fun. I know it's bad for the horses and dangerous for the jockeys but it was great entertainment one year when it pissed it down and only 7 horses finished.

My tips are Black Apalachi (14-1) or Brooklyn Brownie (33-1). I've had this feeling a ten year old Irish horse would win it this year. I like the form of these two horses, worthy of an each way bet at least I reckon.

Paddy Power offering each way finish from first to fifth, so i'll probably put £10 each way on Himalayan Trail at 36-1 with them.

What about those people who put £10 on the winner?
£1010 back! Nice money if you put it down.

I didn't bet btw.
