The stereotype has crossed. Goth + Townie = mini-mosher really. It does depend where you live though

I'm probably a little biased against townies because whenever we used to organise gigs when we were younger, chavs would always turn up afterwards just to beat people up. Now I've moved to Canterbury, and get them spitting and communing on my doorstep. I don't dress anywhere near as alternative as I used to, and have yet to be given any grief by any alternatives. The idea of the fighting of chavs against goths amused me though, as if goths are flying down and attacking chavs with their anemic muscle power, and not in fact just being set alight by a bunch of bastards. There's a difference between gang war and victimisation.

I reckon the Goths are reading the bad poetry they fill their deadjournals with to the opposition; a weapon so terrible it should never be used.

To go back to me yoof, as well as rockers and mods in 1979-1981 there was also a skinhead trend and a "breed" of football hooligans who wore like Pringle jumpers etc, carried umbrellas and were from my experience the most violent of the lot.
I remember we was in a pub called the Hungrey Years in Brighton (its now a gaybar I hear, GAYBAR etc .. ) and there was four or five of these geezers in there. Strangley they were quite friendly to me and me m8s, but were kicking off against anybody else that looked at them.
They left, and about 5 minutes later another Heavy metal type kid came in (it was that kind of pub) with blood streaming down his face. " I was just walking down the road and some bloke in a Pringle jumper punched me in the face !"
Can't imagine who that was

  • Jumpers with the name/logo in huge letters on the front (example rockport jumpers)

Keeps most of the gob-shites away. :D

Charvers wear this "trendy, label" stuff?

Thing is, I couldn't imagine anything LESS trendy. I like to think I'm a funky young hipcat and sorry but I wouldn't go near that shizznit with a barge pole.

In Bracknell it's all, still, White Kappa Shellsuit tops, dodgy adidas jogging bottoms which are too short and white ellesse trainers.

And don't get me started on the fifty pounds (in weight) of Argos gold they all have to wear.

I find that the poorer a person is, the more jewellry they wear. I hate wearing brands, I tend to buy my clothes from Debenhams (John Rocha shirts are my fave), and anything with a massive logo doesn't get a second look.

Im from newcastle and the Charvers around here call anyone who isnt wearing a berghause coat or rockports, goths. I was walking along the street with a fcuk top, jeans and reebok trainers on and still got called a goth, the joy. sorry if this sounds a little 'one minded' but i really do dispise the feckers, id like to see them pounded by large rocks and then see how they feel.

I much as I hate attacking people for their dress codes, or assuming behavior from music interests... living in Sunderland, but being forced into Newcastle from time to time, apart from looking disgusting, Goths always seem relatively passive. They do their thing, and most would leave them too it.

Charvas on the other hand, scum of the earth. Abusive, destructive (mindlessly so), and have all the characteristics of a plague.

But then again, if it wasn't for Friday nights on the booze, I'd stay as far away from Newcastle (nay, make that people in general) as humanly possible.

A kev/townie/charver/wanker calls anyone who isn't like them a goth. Yesterday I was called a goth by a fucking 6 year old. I was wearing flares, year old trainers and a monkey t-shirt. Wtf?

There aren't really *that* many full on teenage goths, and the true goths, whilst usually taking the life=shit attitude, don't really cause any trouble.

Kevs on the other hand cause a multitude of trouble.

Mini moshers are just irritating cunts who wouldn't know good music for toffee.

Oh, and Korn had this sponsorship deal with Adidas, so all the mini moshers bummed off em and went out and bought tracksits.

Now that's fucking funny.

Sounds like the problem is epidemic in the North East. Not too much trouble around here (East Anglia). Well... not much of anything round here to tell the truth.

Nerf classifications, and my inability to understand them all :p

What I really, really hate atm is the invasion of people yapping on about not being 'trendy' and 'doing their own thing' and being 'different'...

While, this 'different' is wearing a hoodie with slipknot/marilyn manson/korn/blah on it, and some baggy jeans with a chain.

The new trend, it seems, is being anti-trendy.

... While wearing the same as everyone else.

Umm... wtf?

LOL I cant believe the term mosher is still being used.

I considered myself one of the original moshers back in the mid 1980s when Metallica and Anthrax were prime beef.

A brief look at pop culture, and people in general will tell you that its not new at all, its been this way since forever, People *love* to think they're one of a kind, a bit off kilter, different, not the same as everyone else.

Its almost never true, the ones who say they are different never are. I don't know how many unique people I've met in my life, but i could probably count them on 2 hands*

*yes i can count, yes i do have an active social life.
