I just find them pretentious most of the time and I recall a day in newcastle with a goth couple, 90% of their conversation was "look at that one trying to be goth, they'll never be as goth or sexy as me"

Pretty boring company tbh, especially when at a party a bunch of the goths decide to get into a "I'm more masochistic than thou" competition. However, if my experience with this stereotype is atypical then I am relieved ^^

real goths are the people that dont necessarily hang around with other "goths" but who hang around with anyone, and i agree with the research, the true goths out there are generally artistic and very intellectual people

Mosher: tartan
Goth: Anything Black and Depressing Or something Dark and "Devilish"

k so Burbery and Tartan same thing different colors also a chav wears alot of black if you look Closely (well sometimes on the labels anyway) so who cares about What ya wear cause its all the same if you really think about it infact i bet 99% of what they all wear is the same, nylon Cotton Wool whateva..

and if you didnt want to be labeled im sorry love but you wouldnt even speak about anti social behaviour and give otehr people labels if you dont want them yourself it goes straight against everything.

In other words

GOTHS! MOSHER! CHAVS! AND TRENDIES! ARE ALL THE FECKING SAME with different types of music but yet again Happy Hardcore Use's Drums (well Samples) and Hard Rock use's Drums so your listening to the same stuff with different tempo.

I would not go so far as to class chavs as people, the vast majority of them are scum. Pure and simple.
Im a security guard in a shop and get along quite well with most of the school kids and such, if your a twat to them they will make your life twice as hard, so it makes sense to. 95% of the trouble I have in the stores, be it verbal abuse to staff, shouting kids, theives etc etc, is from chavs.

As for "goths... the truth"; wasnt the fact that they (as a group) tend not to be very violent kinda already established? As they said in that article alot depends on the individual but I've always thought they were fairly friendly unless provoked. That said I could be wrong...

We say 'bless you' when people sneeze because it's a relic from the time of the great plague. Sneezing was one of the early symptoms so, people would say 'bless you' to ward off the plague. Obviously it helped as only about 25 million people across Europe died.

Mostly the article about goths being pretty middle class is fairly accurate, at least in my experience but then I don't count mall-rats with pretensions of inner torment as goths. I went to a pretty middle class school where a lot of the kids were goth and I've been accused of being a bit goth myself from time to time. Most of the kids I went to school with (16 years ago) are still goth to some extent and mostly have good jobs in creative industries like journalism, music or broadcasting. Like a lot of subcultures though there are many micro-cultures within it which attract different people. The black paper and silver pen crowd aren't any more representative of the goth scene than the teenage chavs with attitude and mesh t-shirts who think that badly dyed black hair makes you a martyr to art.

im apparently a goth....cos i almost religiously wear black jeans an band shirts an have my lip pierced but if you really step back an have a look at what goth really is its fuckin bollocks....an if i was to label myself i'd say i was a metaller 100%. theres more to the goth scene than black clothes an shit but i dont really get why people have to have a label on everything tbh.
IMO people need to chill out an not be bothered by appearance...but instead have more of the "their either a **** or they aint" kinda attitude
