There is no conservative and labour party any more they are both right wing.

I dont know about right wing but it is quite clear that they are pretty much both singing from the same hymn sheet. Compare the Labour party of today with the one that was led by Micheal Foot or Neil Kinnock and you will see that the Labour of today has shed all its socialist policies (well a lot of them).

The whole point of being in opposition is so that you can offer a alternative to the government of the day and its policies. The Conservatives are doing just that but regretably as a lot of people already make clear neither Labour nor Conservative seem to be in touch with the people they are representing anymore and policies are reflecting this.

Its not all been bad with Labour. Compare unemployement today with that under the Conservatives, look at the state of the economy today and the unprecendentated growth since Labour have come to power (well actually siince 1992 recession came to an end). They have made huge investments in schools and hospitals, both sectors having been long neglictated by succesive Conservative governments.

Will this new attempt work at egting people off the dole and back to work? I dont think so. The numbers of people that they are hoping (68,000 and 16,000) this legislation will target is in reality a small number and it wont be making much of a difference in terms of monetary savings. Also i am not too sure on the legality of forcing people to work for what would in effect, be below minium wage.

This is the price you must pay when you are living in a caring society, if you want to help the needy then some other less needy people will get benefit from this.

The thing with labour is they failed to deliver on their promises, realisitically they didn't make "new" huge investments when they came to power because they had agreed to use the budget set out by the previous govtment.

stupid suggestion , liloe explained allready what some of the consequences are with this populistic nonsense , furthermore itll cause government expenses to rise as you have to pay people to run these "not really jobs" jobs , and thats the most job creation youll ever see from it.

its not like this is new ideas , been suggested tried and tested in several other countries , none has claimed succes yet , still it get a rerun once in awhile , i guess its the revenge feel of it , bit the same thing as proposing longer sentences for crime x or y , guaranteed to get the popular vote every time.

I personally think its more important to crack down on knife and gun crime than benefit scroungers. That would be my top priority if I was running for votes. Benefit fraud is an easy win. So whats Cameron got to say about how he'd tackle knife and gun crime if he was PM ?

Did they say people would have to be working for under the minimum wage?

The way it sounded to me was that if you get offered a perfectly good job for a reasonable wage, you can't say.. hmm that's not really my thing I think i'll just keep collecting my dole check and playing xbox over and over again.

Then I don't bother voting and have a perfectly good job so i've not bothered researching it too much.

Agree, they don't work for under minimum wage by no means, and tbh i still think they should be able to keep their houses etc, just pay for the bills & work.

If they throw them out i think its a little too far, since not many people can buy a house on like 8 pound an hour!

Seemed pretty clear to me that that is what they are suggesting. Doing community work to get your benefit paid i think can only be considered below miniuim wage if you consider the amount they get paid, though i suppose wold depend on the number of hours they work.
