If you look at the benefit system the large majority of state benefits actually go into bussinesses, look at Northern Rock being bailed out. The discussion of benefits for the likes of Asylum seekers and the unemployed is dealing in such a small portion of government spending compared to afformentioned spending and just about everything else i would never change my vote on this particular issue. Unless of course you are attracting to it because of the principle which is fair enough i suppose.

I agree with the Northern rock issue, however if the bank had collapsed it would have taken others with it. I am disgusted that the government wont help out the people that were ripped off in the fairpack (sp?) swindle but helped Northern rock

David Cameron has lost the election RIGHT there.

He's living in cloud fucking cuckoo land if he thinks he can do that.

over the past 4 years, i've had 4 jobs which i've either quit, or not been kept on because i have a medical condition for which im now getting treatment. This means im now in Incapacity Benefit until the matter is resolved.

Under his plan.. i can get a job it seems, one that is tailored to what i CAN do, and if i cant.. i go be a fucking slave for the local council?!!

What happened to minimum wage? do you REALLY think people are gonna WORK for 60 quid a week? like shite. they'll turn to crime as its more profitable.

What this fucking muppet fails to realise is, in areas like mine, there are no fucking jobs because one of his predecessors (Thatcher) screwed us over royally.

I DO HOWEVER agree that the useful piece of shit Raven mentioned who never done a days work EVER should be hit hard and forced into something, but the likes of myself who would work if i bloody could, shouldnt be forced into ANYTHING until my treatment is complete.

Cameron is just a middle class fuckwit with no grip of reality.

Sorry i've no idea what your condition is but you've failed to convince me with this argument.

Your saying that you shouldn't be forced to do a job that you COULD do because you feel your some how better than that. And that while there's no jobs tailered to your exact needs that the government should then pay for everything for you until one comes along.

Far too many people in this country are far far too pampered these days. Oh I don't want to clean toilets for a living, that's beneath me. Instead i'll just claim benefits until a cushy desk job comes along. Working as a slave for the council? Well someone has to do that job.. Maybe you could explain why your so much better than the person doing it that he should pay for your lifestyle while he slaves away.

Yeah you might be one of the few people with an actual proper excuse, but for every 1 person that's got a real reason there's another 20 spouting the same crap that are just spoiled. There's a reason we have so many immigrants. It's because we need someone to actually do the jobs that need doing while we sit around and go "ooh my back hurts!" or "I can earn more sitting on my arse so why bother!".

There's plenty of ways to make money without someone coming and presenting a job on a plate to you these days. Just most people are far too lazy to actually bother.

I agree with the sentiment somewhat but I could never vote for the Conservatives after what they did during the 80's and early 90's. I won't be voting anytime soon unless I get a decent independent candidate to vote for.

Whislt I have some sympathy people living in the old industrial areas of the UK and how they were affected in the 80's and 90's. Do you really think things would be different if Thatcher did not exist? Do you really think the UK can compete now in indutries like ship building?

Labour lagacy of the 70's left the country owing 20 billion to the IMF before the Conservatives took over. They had to change the country from Industrial to Service type industry due to the chaging global enviroment and far cheaper labour in Far East and Eastern Europe. The UK would be in far worse shape now had that not happened.

I doubt people with medical conditions are going to get left without any benefits and forced to work.

Hope your illness gets sorted and you find a decent job that you enjoy.

I could never vote Labour after what they did in the 70's and more recently (Iraq). Pity the Lib Dems are such a joke! Monster Raving Looney Party it is then!

Its a different story for people who CANNOT physically work, i think he's more talking about the twats that sit at home doing fuck all and just getting given money for it.

People who cannot physically work deserve help imo, and if that plan goes ahead, hopefully the people who need the money will get a tad extra since the fuckwits aren't getting a free way in life.

PLUS.

You only get 45 pound a week on benefits afiak? so its more money?

Its kinda weird like people on benefits, most imigrants who come here generally go to a shop / petrol station or whatever and work like 15-16 hours a day, and people moan about having to get a basic 9-5 job :S

Also this made me laugh:

Lib Dem work and pensions spokesman Danny Alexander said the Tory proposals were "hollow rhetoric designed to sound tough rather than helping people back to work".

"The real issue is how to reduce poverty and raise aspirations by ensuring everyone has access to a fulfilling and sustainable job, not cosmetically lowering the benefit claimant numbers", he added.

WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT.

50% of people i think are just too fucking lazy to get a job, this woman pulled up to post office the other day (chav mind you) in a nice shiny pimped out saxo, and went in to get her benefits, she wasnt dressed like a tramp either.

Total joke?

Im not saying ppl who are on benefits should be poorly dressed, but they shouldnt be wearing designer clothes & stuff :|

Ilaya, get your anger isues treated :p

Seriously tough, i think the idea is basically good, as long as it doesn't backfire. The problem always is: What kind of social work should these people do.

If you give them a serious job, then you're basically taking away normal jobs cause these guys are getting payed cheaper than normal employees for sure and you're paying them anyways, so why employ someone else for the work, if you can have another one do it basically for free.
That leaves all the jobs that normally nobody does, so basically stuff which is not really useless, but you wouldn't want to pay a new guy to do it.

So what I say is, that those people should be used to fill spots where no money is available, so if you have unemployed students, let them work at school to help out young people with their homework (those who don't have parents who can/want to help them for instance), or if you have unemployed artisans, get them to help out janitors in official buildings to keep them in better shape. Sure, those are still a bit silly jobs, but at least they have some public benefit and it's not like any town would hire people to do those things :p

I really have to say, I usually see David Cameron as a complete wet blanket but this has sort of increased my belief a small bit.

Labour in all honesty can't seem to get this sorted out at all, I actually know a few people that do not work at all and sit around on benefits, getting their rent paid and doing nothing but sit on their xbox smoking weed all day.

It really pisses me off that people can do that and it's a blatent show that the benefits system is fucked, fair enough if you can't actually work but when some people have been claming incapacity benefit for xx years for being TOO STRESSED TO WORK then it's a blatent indicator that somethings wrong.

The people complaining about it, funnily enough are the general layabouts who are worried that their easy life style doing fuck all every day is going to be taken off them and they might actually have to do some work and pay IN to the system as opposed to doing nothing but taking OUT.

I think a lot more investigation needs to be done into people who request benefits, yes this would be a fair amount of hassle for those with a legitimate excuse, but it'd sort out those who needs it and those who obviously don't.

As far as I see it and I have done for a while, if you're not prepared to work, then you shouldn't be receiving everyone elses money, it pains me to know that every month when I get taxed off the money i'm earning, that it's going towards some twats giro who's laughing all the way home because he/she doesn't have to work!

you lot are talking like this is a new problem, we live in a country that helps people out in times of need, its a socialist regime and one that i for one agree with, getting tough on benefit fraud is a good thing, but its not really a vote winner for Cameron, the vast majority of people would give a few more pennies in the pound for tax if they knew it was gonig on education the NHS and helping people back to work, but it doesnt, it gets swallowed up in other gray areas, Cameron should stop beating on about how fucked up it is at the moment as both the tories and labour govenments caused this situation with missmanagement of the country years ago, its a hangover from the 70's and 80's.

It is about time we had some honest people in politics that told the truth about the country for a change, tell it how it is, if its fucked up, tell us how they can try to fix it with the peoples help. Surely you would rather know that paying a bit more tax could help straighten things out if they just told the truth. It won't ever happen in my lifetime but you can hope.

The only way to sort this shit out is to have a revolution, but we live in a semi police state that wont alow us to do anything like that.

I`m sure the armed forces could find use for these layabouts. 6 months in the desert would soon get the Frank Gallaghers of Britain racing to take the next shelf stacking job in Asda.

haha can't wait to see the dolelites going back to school. What we really need is some social darwinism and abit of the old Spencer, only the finest will survive as society evolves and that government should not intervene to help those who are "less fit." :D

Well I have just come out of three months without work, my redundancy paid for most of it, I am proud to say I didn't claim a penny in benefits.

I thought thats what the idea of redundancy was? To help you live whilst you find a new job?

Not really no, I was only there for 9 months or so, only got about 1.5 grand.

They are usually a sweetener so that you do not show them the finger when you find they are fucking you off, it was conditional that i would be available by phone for a month after i finished.

Compulsary redundancy was designed to help you look for another job.
The extra money that companies often give is both to keep you sweet, so you'll help them transition to a company without you and also to keep the people left slightly more motivated, as if the people going arn't as upset it does help the people left not worry about it as much.

I wouldn't disagree bud, I know Labour were a disaster in the 70's and I had hoped for better from them this time around but after a decent start they lost the plot bigtime. Sadly there is absolutley no one worth voting for anymore, they are all fucking useless bone-idle pigs with thier noses in the trough.

Yeah, but not voting is exactly what they want you to do. The reason why there is less and less people voting is there are less and less people who want that shower of wankers in power but feel there is absolutely nobody else worth voting for so don't bother.

The only reason i vote conservative is because they are the only other slightly less useless party that stand a remote chance.

What you'll find is a sudden increase of depression and back problems. Both are extremely hard to disprove. Easy way to claim sickness benefit instead of unemployment benefit. Therefore unable to do community work

I think its always very easy for the opposition to make up plans and schemes that sound excellent for the vote, whilst deep down having the knowledge to know that it probably won't work. Yet the public don't see this.

Im by no means saying this won't work, just its always easy for the opposition to come with the 'GRAND SOLUTION!' when they aren't in power.
