On a road just up from my house there was a man caught going 70 in a 40mph area; granted it wasn't a high danger area but still...
He complained in court that he couldn't see the speed camera as he came upto it. He got away with no fine, no points and the speed camera was later taken down. The whole system is stupid. Personally I think each speed camera SHOULD be hidden but the argument is that if you're caught, the moments just after being caught is when you're the least aware on the road as your mind is wondering about other things. So I guess having them near schools and such is a bad idea fullstop; they should just add more speedbumps.
Hidden speed cameras probably get classed as being covert surveillance = legislation dictates that you have to be given authorisation for it etc.
If this is the case, then anything which that covert survellience (ie the camera) gathers as evidence is inadmissable in court therefore all charges have to be dropped.
Silly maybe, but then so are most speed limits. Hell, if i remember rightly the limits are only what they are currently because a couple of decades back they reduced the limits so that less fuel was used when there was a shortage... nothing about saving lifes!

Having a nation driving along staring constantly at the speedo isn't a way of increasing road safety.. And people that claim you should be able to tell how fast you are going without looking have obviously never actually driven a car and known how fast they were going. Put your average driver in a car and get them to do 30 down a section of road they don't know without a speedo, I can guarantee they won't succeed.

What jeros said basically, mobile use whilst driving is dangerous, people who do it deserve everything they get.
Sorry your wrong 3rd is 30 unless your a kid boy racer and acceleratea) That's clearly not true in all but the most crappest of cars. If you believe that you should frame your speeding ticket as proof your car actually made it to 35.
b) Depends very much if your going uphill or downhill.
c) Yes I know you were taking the piss.
and if all that failed.
d) I drive an automatic!!![]()
maybe then you will need to acceleratepreacherboy said:Sorry your wrong 3rd is 30 unless your a kid boy racer and accelerate![]()
Sorry your wrong 3rd is 30 unless your a kid boy racer and accelerateup or down hill, will depend though on the stepness of the hill you are going up
maybe then you will need to accelerate
lamp isn't smoking illegal under some circumstances in a car now? (like if your in a car with a passenger, I thought the new rules were that inside a car is classed as a public space and so unless your passenger is also smoking its illegal? could be wrong on that)
I wasn't saying that using a mobile is a good idea, just that the media and police attention it gets is a bit of a joke when I'm fairly sure theres much more pressing matters that the police could be dealing with, and theres much bigger issues on the road and inside a car that will detract from a persons focus more-so than a mobile (screaming children / road rage?) - which apparently is being looked into by the government, which could lead to some very funny laws
oh and pip <3 you
ANYTHING that distracts the driver from what he's supposed to do is dangerous in one way or another. wanna make all that stuff illegal to?![]()
i'm all for making the roads safer and all that. but some of the laws in UK is pretty pants. like talking on the cell phone whilst driving and comparing that to be just as dangerous as driving drunk, while that may be true to some extent theres always the option to stop talking in the pone. u can't exactly instantly stop being drunk.
i mean, speaking on a cell phone is like talking to a passenger, ur not more or less distracted buy any of those 2 things. and talking to a passenger sure as hell isn't illegal. the only thing different is that ur holding the phone in ur hand, but as far as i can understand, thats not the issue in that law.
the issue seems to be the talking as thats distracting you from the driving bit. well make talking in general be fucking illegal to when ur driving. as it is now its a fucking hypocrit(sp?) law.
At least you didn't get caught by the same police officer twice and got 3 points each time for reversing up a slip road
Fucking lazy doughnut eating no real crime work doing ****.

I'm not one to condone speeding it is wrongwas done for going 35mph in a 30 mph zone
on the letter I received was not a fine, just conformation to ask me if I was the one driving, and to ask me for my driving license number,so it's making me wonder what will happen next cause I've never been done for speeding before
(I also have a theory that girls who smoke, tend to be dirtier anyways so...)
