Lack of a MicroSD slot is puzzling. I'll probably still get it though, I want to go back to default ui and frequent software updates.

Funny thing was the facial unlock didnt work on the main stream demo :d They blamed it on heavy makeup.

Unless its really fast i reckon it'll be switched off by most people. Nice idea, but I don't think facial recognition is as advanced as Spooks would have you believe.

Am I the only one that looks at ICS and thinks "looks blocky like WinMo7/Win8" ?

This little engadget piece says it's pretty quick...
When Matias Duarte tried to unlock his Nexus Galaxy on-stage at today's Samsung event things didn't go so well. Some combination of his makeup and the lighting conspired to keep him from getting into his device, but after spending a little time with one ourselves we can confirm that it does indeed work -- and quickly. To program the feature, go into the settings and it'll train itself to recognize your mug. As it locks in a ring of circles frames your face and, hey presto, it's ready. After that you set up a backup form of identification and you're good to go.

Once it's ready we found it takes only a second or two to recognize and unlock the phone, meaning this should be even faster than swiping or punching in an unlock code. But, you still will need to do that from time to time, either when the lighting conditions are less than optimal or, apparently, when you weren't born with it and were relying a little too much on the Maybelline.
Will this just be a Galaxy Nexus thing or will it be a "any phone with a front facing camera" thing? Quite looking forward to Ice Cream Sandwich on my S2.

I read somewhere that the headphones plug into the back but it's not true, you plug them in on the bottom, next to the microUSB port.

The lack of microSD slot is indeed a bit odd, though.

Hearing bad things about the pentile screen. That and lack of MicroSD means that I may see what comes out in the new year instead.

Whatever phone I go for in the future I'm going to avoid the ones that use things such as Sense.

So that means any HTC phone then.
HTC are my first choice for a phone BECAUSE of Sense. :)

However, I'm ambivalent about the Galaxy Nexus. On the one hand I like the idea of the cutting edge software updates immediately, on the other hand the display uses PenTile subpixels (meaning fuzzy edges and a blue tint to whites).
I'm still leaning towards the HTC Sensation SE next year when I hit upgrade time.

Sense is the generally seen as the best manufacturer UI wrapper isn't it?

I don't disagree that Sense is nice but the updating side of it is just too annoying to bother with it, I think google will continue to improve the UI any way.

Who keeps manufacturers' UI (launchers) though. Doesn't everyone stick ADW on straight away ?

Nope. Like I said before, I go with HTC phones *because* they have Sense.

I think it depends if you are happy with what your phone looks like or if you want to change it. ADW has more flexibility than most launchers.
