Cancer is terrible. There is a toll on the immediate family that lingers for ages after. Lost a member of my own family to cancer recently and it was traumatizing. Wouldn't wish it on my own worse enemy.

Lets not start that again eh, Raven. Not worth it.

Personally, I couldn't stand the bint, and I enjoyed poking fun at every opportunity for her lack of intelligence and speak-before-eventually-thinking mentality, as well as laughing at a multitude of nasty taste text based jokes.

However, it's worth bearing in mind the family (thinking of the kids more than the moronic father) and what she's done for awareness in her last few weeks regarding cancer and smeartests. If she's had even the most minute effect on just a few people, that could be lives saved of far less irritating and more intelligent people out there.

I haven't liked how some of it has been turned into a huge publicity circus for the whole thing but if it's helped save a few people's lives further down the line it's all worth it, and she has my respect for that. It's certainly a very sobering thought, it happening on mothers day of all days.


Oh, and Furr : incidentally I do believe some people actually wrote a script checking that very linked website to automatically post their post-death joke to Sickipedia

On a wider more general point, I agree with Kryt that raising awareness was a good thing. Cancer is terrible, I've seen it eat at extended family members and close friends (my dad's best long term friend died of an aggresive brain tumour which terrified me at how quickly it subdued him and his personality) and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

It sickens me to hear of all the people on the radio today saying she was an inspiration and that they loved her. And crash Gordon paying tribute to her as well, that guy must want us to hate him even more.
If she encourages more girls to get themselves checked out thats a good thing, but lets face it she was a fame hungry loudmouth who milked her illness/death for all it was worth. I'm just glad the money she got came mostly from the celeb obsessed side of the media like OK magazine that most of us don't contribute towards I would hope.

Very sad for her children and the family that's left behind. I hope her fortune is used as she wanted and not abused.

I also hope that her plight has raised awareness. I'm 35 and have 2 friends from university dead from breast cancer (before she was 30) and another from lukemia. It's tragic and I dream of a day that it's eradicated.
