Congrats mate, I don't get mine back until friday but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be at a 2.1 for the second year too. A few bad results have pulled me down quite a lot. Is annoying as hell having results where you may as well just roll a dice to see what you get :(

thanks dude
the second year pulled me down quite a lot, dont really know how I managed to balance a job/uni work and girlfriend all at the same time and still come out with the best marks ive got at uni.

good luck to you :drink:

its complete bollocks.

in some classes i got 75+% in others i got 40s then the rest i missed Bs by 1-2%. i did manage 60% on average but only by 0.2%.

its the exams that fucked me up. i got Bs in the coursework then Ds in the exams, i just cant do them for some reason even though i revised for 6 weeks solid. one module we effectively had to teach our self from scratch because it didnt have any lessons, we just had to hand in 4 pieces of work by the end of it and that is one i was pushing 75. so i dont think im too stupid for the course, if i can manage that.

have you sorted your dissertation yet?

Aye, well, it's a project (10,000 words + make something) but same difference I guess. Have got all of that planned out and need to start doing it all pretty soon; most people I've spoken to on my course haven't even got an idea of what they want to do yet. If mine works, I'm gonna be well chuffed though and am considering advancing it into my masters too as it's pretty much endless scope and I know what I want done where/when etc.

As for my grades, they range from 88% down to 36% (exams not included until friday) and looking at my marks, I can't help but feel cheated by some module leaders. I guess it's looking at your grades against the rest of the class that counts but it's still dragging you down overall...

You going into the third year now as well and got your dissertation topic sorted? :D

3rd year indeed. currently writing all the ethics paper work shit for my project. so bloudy long winded and drawn out.

im going to be investigating the medical use and effects of none automatic weighing instruments!

theres been little done in researching a lot of issues relating to it, so hopefully i can make some new ground.

for example; to run a public weigh bridge you have to have a certificate to show youve got the knowledge to do it correctly. in hospitals peoples treatment is dependant on their weight in some cases but the person weighing them doesnt actually need to know what theyre doing with the equipment. what do you think is more important? :)

Got my results yesterday. Passed with great distinction (Bachelor in philosophy) to my own surprise, percentage will probably be somewhere between 77 and 78% over all three years.

Grats guys :) I didn't even know you could get distinction with BSc degrees. I'd presume that's 80% then aye? Not that I'm gonna get it now, just that I haven't heard of it before, heh.

I have to wait till the 25th july :S

I thought the 2nd was real early, our uni put out art+design marks before everything else but its quite a difference, like nigh on a month.

According to the news this morning, anyone who took exams or Sats recently will have to wait up to maybe two weeks longer. GCSE wont be affected apparently.

Something to do with the new system not working...

I literally this morning (at 7am) finished marking the last of the 342 exams I had been sent for GCSE Geography. So, if you're with AQA exam board and I marked you, you're screwed

Now I can play games again and get drunk

Indeed I am, stuck with being Head of Geography actually. The majority of kids I've taught have seen some rocking DAoC vids on my interactive whiteboard - a 92" screen is quite fun to watch some of the vids on :saythat:

And I've started the trend of kids shouting 'Leeeeeeroy Jeeeeeenkins' too. That one left loads of teachers confused and I'm not telling them even what it's about.

what do you have to do for your major project? in the third year we just basically got to do whatever we wanted. Would have much prefered an actual brief.

it's a self-initiated brief that has to be approved, so in a sense doing whatever i want i suppose. however, it had to be approved by two tutors before i left for summer and then i have to give a 15 minute presentation on my progress over summer (basically have to do groundwork - storyboards, research, refrence drawing, style example etc.) to my course leader and two tutors who have never seen my work before.

does that final project consist of the entire 3rd year or is it more like an ongoing project whilst you do other stuff?
hosting our end of term show was a great experience, got some work out of it as well so good luck with all of that!
