Thats a good start if you want to throw away money.

A more safe bet would be going to the technical forums here, then getting a good rig in your price range & going to aria.co.uk and paying them 20 quid to put it together and ship it.

It was like that when I got here...

Actually forget that lol. Just customised my perfect PC and it comes out and over $3000! Or £2,400 odd. Ouch!

I'd have to pay about 40% more to get a computer equal to the one I've got atm from Alienware, just stay away from them it's seriously not worth it.

And yeah a quick edit: https://forums.freddyshouse.com/techie-discussion-3/

I've been out of touch a few months myself but Kryten should be able to help you find a rig in your pricerange, then all you'll have to do is head over to www.aria.co.uk and fill in the parts & tell them to put it together for a fee and ship it. Same performance as Alienware(or better) but alot cheaper.

alienware are just as shite as the main dell lot since being purchased. generic ram etc most time unlike the old days where used top range stuff.

I'd have to agree with Helme, and that is exactly what I did a few months ago (minus the assembly; its pretty simple to do) , getting a top of the range PC for well below retail prices.

i used www.pcspecialists.co.uk when i bought my new PC, got a great deal and it lets you choose exactly what you want (and you can jiggle things around to fit your budget) just make sure you know exactly what you are getting as i made one mistake in that i didnt check the size of the motherboard they were installing (i chose the cheapest one foolishly) and ended up with a motherboard with no space for anything but a wireless card as upgrade and only enough RAM slots for 2 sticks and only space for one HD (only the one plug not a matter of case space :p )

I'm in a similar situation except i'm willing to attempt to build it myself. So i headed over to the technical forum and Kryten pretty much did the rest, there's also many other forums on the web where people will offer good advice on what parts to buy and what not to buy etc :)

Otherwise i guess ebuyer might be a good site to buy a whole rig.

Visual C++ Help Please

Hey guys n gals... basically im looking for help in a project im doing atm in visual c++
I have a list control box, reading in from binary files and it works (headings initialized and using a "List Files button" to start the reading) but im using a while loop (while(!file.eof())) cause i cant be sure how many files my lecturer will use but its listing them in reverse ie. decending order.
properties for the list control, sort - ascending doesnt work cause it goes 1, 11, 12,.., 2, 20 etc.

is there any 'reverse' eof i can use for the while loop so that i can use ios::end and --refno for seekg instead?

I think the C language has a reverse function in 1 of the header files or something. I think its just something like (numbers).reverse.
