There is a place just round the corner from me so think i may check it out

I did aikido for 10 years, it's excelent self defense, doesn't matter what shape / size you are: before you go, ask if you can sit in and watch a session, most sensai will be more than welcome to let you watch, they might even give free trial session so you can try it out.

I was just looking for a dojo in france to get back into shape, not done any since I moved here.

place in wood green has a place right near me, first session is free then its £30 for 10 beginners lessons so i think its a really good idea, got nothing to lose

I like the idea of it being non agressive, since leaving the army i have no discipline in my life so thats another factor to get back into it. And i need to get back in shape too

I started doing Ki AIkido last August, when i was 23, been the best decision of my life, Ki aikido focuses more on using your mind than just the physical aspects of the throws/joint locks, seen some things that look like magic/fake, heh but its all real and highly effective.

what style is it you'd be signing up for?

I've done jui-jitsu for over 20 years. Got a lot of respect for aikido.

Go along. Watch a session if you don't fancy taking part initially. If there's a good atmosphere in the dojo you'll enjoy it much better. A good instructor will teach you safely as well as throw in a few laughs too.

My brother does Aikido and Tai Kwan Do for 20+ years, says they are both the best martial arts he has done.

Yeah def going to give it a go, done stuff before, generic Karate, some throws and hold brazilian Ju jitzu, but really liking the idea of this

Just do it, don't make excuses before you start, i started lots of hobbies & interestes late in life and although i wish i had started younger i am much happier that i actually started at all.
