I did think it may have been a joke, but i probably gave you a bit more credit than you deserved, the last time i heard or saw anyone laugh at the old 'gay actaully means happy' gag, was 10 or so years ago. I just didn't think you were that daft.

The simple fact is, you got all 'pissed off' because someone happened to use the word 'gay' in a description of people who play CS. You've proved on may occasions (see the Music Forum), that you're nothing more than a jumped up child, who would rather cause arguments by swearing and name calling than ignoring comments. If you were so 'pissed' at the use of 'gay' then why not click that link that says 'Report Post To Moderator' instead of comming in with some pityful attempt at annoying people? If the moderators deemed the post to be breaking the CoC then it would have been deleted.

It is not homophobia, yes its not right that in the online gaming scene gay is used to describe something bad, but thats just something you have to deal with online.

Um, using "gay" as a derogatory term is homophobia - just because people don't think about what they're saying doesn't stop it being homophobic. If people went around all the time saying "This server is full of n00b ni***rs" then that would be racism. This is no different.

Unfortunately its the same with any online game - most public servers are populated with <insert non-offensive term>. You're always going to get the best game in a clan match. I found this with CS (before I quit, because I got bored of it), and I'm finding it more and more with BF.

The problem with CS is that it was (and still is) a victim of its own success. The early betas, before the mass-market appeal, it was a joy to play on public servers. No moaning, no name calling, no cheat accusations - compliments were made to people. I'm not denying the fact that the early betas were prob more open to cheats than the current version, but the fact that it wasn't popular with the teenagers (infact you hardly got any playing then, because of the massive telephone fees for going online), and so cheats were not common.

Once it became popular, people felt the need to cheat so they didnt look 'shit' to the rest of the people on the server, and the need to get on top of the scoreboard was the sole motivation for people playing. Its at that point it got more of a chore than a joy to play. The single mindedness of the players to get frags instead of working as a team to rescue the hostages etc.

The same will happen with BF, and no doubt I'll move onto the 'next big thing'.

What you say is true CDR, but CS is still so far ahead of BF in popularity etc its not really the same thing.
On our own clan server I can deal with it, at the expense of enjoying my game, by sometimes just banning people, not because I think they cheat, but becausei think they're idiots.
Even then, sometimes it gets very wearing. ECA aint a bad lad really, his use of words is simply what hes used to, he is Im afraid the arche-typical cs player, omfg n00b h4x0r etc.
But as for games, well, you know me mate, I play lots of games, BF included (not too bad at it considering) but for me cs not only plays better still, but it also even looks better, the model articulations are still second to none among games imo. Long live bloody cs tbh. (IMO, etc ....)

Although yes, CS is far popular than BF (and I suppose it always will be), whether its because of the 'CS mentallity' migrated to BF or because its the natural progression of online games - the signs that BF is going the way of CS are there.

In some respects it's limited to the EAUK servers, but, you see the cheat accusations as soon as people die fly across, you see the 'WTF LUCKY B*STARD!', you see the (for want of a better word) retardedness of TK'ing, all of which started happening in CS.

I don't, however, think that it will become as 'big' as it was in CS - mainly because of popularity, but I do think the similarities between BF now and CS 1.0 are there.
