In response to enquiries from Fingoniel on the E&E board we've learned that the one-time parsing idea didn't work. Even the latest extraction tool they received from Mythic was unable to complete the extraction process with valid output.

With the steady progress in 1.62 translation, the idea was therefore abandoned.

Understand that it is Mythic that writes the XML extraction tool, not GOA. The polls and quests are done by GOA's own people and are therefore unrelated. Putting one thing on hold will not fix the other thing.

its like having 2 similar cars, 1 sold in the EU and one sold in the US. The car in it self is similar, the basics, teqniques and principles are the SAME, so you can get the SAME extra equipment that was designed to this car by the manufactor and it will work just as fine on both the cars, even if they do not look the very same on the outside.

seems to me that its the same idea we are working with here. maybe GOA should try the readme.txt or smth :x

sub problem is that pc's are waaay more complicated than cars . Havent you had once that your pc should be doing something, but it doesnt. However it does work on an other pc? It happens besides goa prolly uses french version of the OS and mythic american version. They might even have different OS.

Somehow Mythic managed to make the extraction tool language dependant. Because of the translated versions, a version compatible to the language needs to be made. For Italian that's easy, it's a 1-on-1 translation.

totally agree on this one. Its a disgrace and someone needs to pitch this at GOA just to let them know players have had enough.

Seriously we need a players union. Where members agree to cancel subscriptions for the good of the union. If you can get around 2000+ members then you really do have them by the cahunas.

to be sure this problem could have been sorted within hours of it emerging. The months and months we have waited have gone well beyond a joke.

If GOA need a language compatible extraction tool for excali/prydwen I have a suggestion: use the US version.

The reasons you quote thorarin of why the XML is not updated for euro players are irrelevant - we are not interested in the internal wranglings of goa/mythic and the excuses that goa present. The bottom line is that we do not recieve the chronicles, whilst those in Italy, Korea and the US do.

italy and korea dont translate fully. So that prolly the case why it works for them. Now if you want a case where people dont explain you why it doesnt work. Dont mention where it does work, but just say it hasnt worked for 3 months now. Which is the case and is stronger than saying, but they have it and we dont. As they have most likely an english run server where as our xml must come from a french one (wouldnt have a clue tbh)?

Goa should fix it, but then again I do agree that fixing the xml and then having a problem with it after .61(when its changed) is kinda stupid. So instead of putting effort into fixing it now and again for .61, they just went to fix it for after the 1.61 patch and spend the extra time gained on getting the patch faster.
Now goa told everyone that with 1.62 (actually 1.61 but as its in the same patch) you will get the xml. If you want to threaten them, be my guest but its kinda stupid as goa cant do a thing. They wont speed up the xml fix because it will be here in a few weeks. You will just have to wait till then or leave, goa wont give you the xml any faster.

so basicly they cant be arsed doing 3 times the job (actually they only needed double the work compared to italy and asian, if they didnt insist on translating english to english), and fix it? how much more complicated can it be.. if they were smart they would be running all 3 languages completely independent of each other so it shouldnt be a problem for the 2 others if 1 isnt working.

if it is just 3 times the work of the other daoc providers, then how come they need since march to repair it, and even without success? it stinks of I N C O M P E T E N C E imo.

Soz but LOL!!! I live in France and that sounds exactly like what the Syndicates are saying about the government reforms and all the strikes they've caused. Just as the government said a big FU to them so will GOA to you.

Like it has been said countless times before, xml will be here in 1.62 and nothing you say or do will change that (unfortunately).

Due to a problem with Mythics code, which works perfectly well for them, we are still haveing problems with the xml. Never fear we are looking into this and hope to have the chronicals working Q4 2004. Im the meantime, we have decided to add some more spinky flash grahics to our main webite. We hope you will all enjoy it.

ya'll sound so sure that the chronicles will work with 1.62.. they havent given any reason for this that is different from their previous excuses. and its been a while since the xml's went down, and I believe they expected it to start working with 1.60 the way they expect it to work with 1.61, so I am having my doubts. All I can say, is that its not a valid excuse in my eyes, to put the xml work on hold untill next patch arrives only because it makes their job easier.

At the moment, GOA is providing a very bad service and in the middle of it, they upped their prices. Try do that when having equal competicion.. if we could choose another EU-DAoC company with equal player numbers, how many do u think would stick to GOA and their no-good support, their bad service, their constant excuses and lies.

It was broken before the 12th of March. The last update before that one was on the 27th of February, and even before that there were some problems.
