The XML has been broken for too long now.

So here's my whine,

FIX IT PRETTY PLEASE. Theres no eta as to when it might be fixed or any sign that it might be fixed soon.

Problem in xml-files 28 Feb 2003 06:12 GMT
xml-files were updated yesterday after a week but seem to be having problems. Several characters who have recently been added to guilds seem to be missing and all Hibernian characters and guilds are missing. This is a problem with GOA xml-files and will hopefully be fixed soon. Note that this will affect Albion and Midgard characters so that their server-rankings will seem higher than they are.

Herald character/guild pages and 1.61

With version 1.61, we're introducing live updating of the Herald. That means that when your character is saved on the game servers (every 15 minutes, as well as when you log out), it will also be saved to the Herald. There will be a lag time of up to half an hour as the actual web pages are rebuilt on the Herald, but there should be no other delay.

To make sure this transition goes smoothly, we will be resetting all character listings on the Herald tomorrow morning when 1.61 goes live. Your character will reappear on the Herald within 30 minutes of your logging into the game.

Thanks for your patience as we work to make the Herald your RvR journal of record.

Wir arbeiten weiterhin mit Hochdruck an den Chroniken, über deren Beliebtheitsgrad wir uns natürlich bewußt sind, und die auch für uns selbst, sowie unsere Arbeit wichtig sind.

Ein kleiner Einblick in die Problematik soll Euch hierbei verdeutlichen, welchen Fehlern wir gegenüberstehen, und einige Fragen beantworten, die Eurerseits gestellt wurden.

Einige von Euch haben in diesem Zusammenhang sicher bemerkt, daß die Chroniken des italienischen DAoC Publishers einwandfrei funktionieren.

Wir können die italienische Version leider aus folgenden Gründen nicht verwenden : Sie benötigt für das Auslesen der Serverdaten in etwa acht Stunden pro Server. Da es in Italien nur einen Spielserver gibt, stellt dies kein Problem dar. Bei unseren 10 Servern (exklusive Camlann) würde diese Methode jedoch 80 Stunden für die Datenanalyse in Anspruch nehmen. Unsere Version benötigt hingegen nur etwa 30 Minuten pro Server, und arbeitete bis zur Spielversion 1.57 nahezu einwandfrei.

Fehlerhaft ist seitdem der erste Schritt im Vorgang : Ein Programm, daß die Daten des Servers in eine lesbare Form für eine Datenbank konvertiert, und extrahiert. Erst nachdem die aufbereiteten Daten in der Datenbank gespeichert werden, können sie als XML Format zu dem werden, was Ihr als die Chroniken kennt. Keep- und Reliktstatus sind hiervon nicht betroffen, da dieser Teil der Chroniken nicht zusätzlich aufbereitet werden muss.

Dieses Programm wird von Mythic Entertainment entwickelt und arbeitet, wie bereits beschrieben, leider nicht fehlerfrei. Unsere Techniker arbeiten an einer eigenen Lösung für das Problem. Wir geben jedoch die Hoffnung nicht auf, daß Mythic uns in naher Zukunft ein funktionierendes Programm zur Verfügung stellt. Wir bitten um euer Verständnis.

We are working on it. People who said 'The italian ones work' we cant use those since they are different. We are still awaiting a fix from Mythic but in the mean time our technical guy is working on an own solution
