so,

fact:
-CO2 levels trail global warming by 800 year
-There was no CO2 problem before Margaret Tatcher put money on the table
-Between 1940 and 1980 tempature drops despite rising CO2 levels
-There is a very direct correlation between solar activity and tempature
-CO2 is a minor component (% wise) of all greenhouse gasses
-There are 3 kind of lies: lies, damn big lies and statistics

so, it´s a hoax and i am accepting money from Shell and Esso

:kissit:

ps the dudes in the documentary are the real stuff. You don´t get prof at MIT or editor at Sience magazine for being a retard

Oh..another fun, well you're not really talking about this seriously, fact is 75% of pollution is heat pollution. And that 75% comes out of...*drumroll* Living! Houses, apartments, whatnot. Simply 6 billion people living on this rock is causing 75% of the "ohohshockhorror!! it's gonna blow!!" "effect".
We would need two extra identical "rocks" purely for resources so everyone of those 6.5 billion people could live by our (western) standards.

Finland, for example, should totally close their borders so nothing and no one could move in/out. The moment the last tree (basicly the only energy source Finland has) from the local park is chopped off for energy/newspaper people would think again how much they consume and change their standards to match the local area. Global nationalism = global multiculture, too.

I know it's not only the sun, but it is one of the bigger factors regarding global warming, there's no doubt that we're not causing some of it. (Not as much as people think we are) But we are doing it.

no shit sherlock, the suns heats our planet. thats a dumb argument. the problem with global warming is that the energy can't leave the planet

heh bout time someone made a documentary bout this. I've been a non believer of the CO2 model for ages, just doesn't make sense imo not enough in the atmosphere that could make such a rise in temp. But hay ppl can beleive what they want hey, after all there are so many religions about.

I still havent heard a single proper reason why they would lie about global warming.

think how much money is getting pushed in the way of climate scientists to "Prove" the theory.

REGARDLESS of whether global warming is happening... the amount of harmful chemicals being pumped into the air as a by-product of burning fossil fuels is a bad thing. Nitrogen Oxide, Sulphur Dioxide, heavy metals such as Mercury and Lead.

These minute particles of toxic chemicals are breathed in and quickly enter the blood stream increasing chances of cancerous tissue forming. Not to mention the damage that acid rain etc. does to buildings and the environment.

Developing cleaner methods of energy production is not just about whether or not global warming is happening.

Finally a bit of sense :p

Everyone seems to agree the Earth is getting warmer, the big debate is whethe or not we are the cause or just adding to it and by how much.

It still leaves the fact rising temps will have adverse effects even if we are not the cause! Such as rising sea levels, melting of ice caps and permafrost, increased severe weather events, drought in some areas and flooding in others, acidification, effect on global circulations, ecology etc etc.

If you don't believe CO2 is the cause or that human contribution is negligible there is still some thought required to a response if the trend continues.

The climate is always changing and has undergone many rapid large changes in the past claiming 'global warming' is a hoax / swindle won't get you away from that.

Not trying to be a scaremonger as I think both extreme camps are way of the mark of whats realistic. Why shouldn't there be funding for climatology, it has a large effect on our way of life. Although the political pressure on the results is definitely not needed.

How come global warming has become such a hot topic all of a sudden anyways, we've seen it go on for years and only now people are getting worried.
And no it's not a hoax it's fact.
I don't care though, I'll be long dead by the time it becomes a "real" problem, just enjoy the lovely weather outside :D

You do know that 2 billion people don't have access to clean forms of energy like gas and oil and burn wood and dung so they get cancer and die before they reach an age of 50.

Gas and oil are by far the most reliable and cleanest source energy.

Nuclear energy hardly gives any CO2 but gives a big waist problem. Not even mentioning the retards who make bombs with it

now, leviathane has pointed out something, but you said not a single proper reason?

And in the first 3 minuts of the film, they tell you why scientists would lie about it in the first place: founding (sp?)! If you say you got a problem = money from the government, if you tell them "this might not be a problem", then why should they care?

Read what others post before you, specially when REPLYING to your posts, before you start rambling..

Oh, you did say "proper" reason, what other proper reason do you want?

You proved my point by saying your first sentence. We do still have power plants that burn coal... infact a large number of them.

Just because gas and oil are cleaner doesn't mean they are cleanest. There are new nuclear fusion technologies that can reduce the amount of radioactive waste and also reduce the dangerous radioactive life time to only a few hundred years. With reprocessing 95% of the waste uranium can be salvaged and used again.

Nuclear power directly produces no carbon dioxide... however the mining of uranium does, but we're back to fossil fuels again.

And as for reliable... when people realise the shit we're in when we start to run out... expect severe shortages. Optimistically with current reserves and current underground sources we have about 36 years of Oil left and 72 years of gas.

Uhmm... Did you even watch it?

Also, care to explain how other planets are getting hotter and hotter? :) Without any humans/polution?

It's the sun, deal with it.

No1 has landed on other planets apart from the moon so how can they tell how hot they are?

I think they go by the general wisdom that ice = cold and lava = hot. although I could be wrong :p

Or on a more serious note - they have fairly sophisticated ways of determining temperature and composition of materials through telescopes. I would suggest that measuring the temperature of mars or venus would be an almost trivial task when compared to identifying planets in different solar systems which are lightyears away.

You know the rover vehicles? like "Mars Rover" they got all these high-powered high-tech equipment on board to measure, dig, and research the surface and objects on the plants they are send to.

Beside that, it also measures the temparature..

Beside this way of doing it, there are other ways to calculate the temparatures of other planets without being there, as I am not a professor on the subject, I can't tell you excatly how, beside that I know it is possible...

EDIT: One possible way, through the use of telescope, would be to measure the expanding atmosphere or planet, far shot, but if the general temperature of a planet rises with 5 degree, as in EVERYTHING being 5 degree more hot, the entire planet would expand, as all substances expand by heat.

rofl. i think, and bearing in mind its just my opinion, but i think dukat is correct.

things like infrared measurements can tell clever people how hot or cold something is.

look, global warming is a naturally occuring event that preceeds ice ages.

earth warms up, melts polar ice caps, fresh water then mixes with salt water and turns off the belts of warm currents of both water and air across the world. earth gets colder and ice age begins. as more fresh water freezes and forms ice caps and salt water seperates and again.. earth warms up and returns to normal.

turning off your telly aint gonna change anything except your bills.

Consider theese equations:

energy = money
trees = energy

So if you want money you plant trees. Simple as that. Theres money to be made from planting trees so thats what people do...

Well there should be funding for climatology but as of now it seems like they're just wasting it. Instead they should come up with solutions to the effects of global warming (like what to do with rising sea levels and all the humanitarian disasters that follows this effect).

Maybe its because of us the temperature is rising (altho its unlikely) or maybe its just how nature is. Either way its a better bet to use the funding to deal with the problem instead of making research that is essentially a waste of time, and only serves to find some kind of scapegoat.
