Basically on newsnight a couple of days after they have Brian Hoskins a respected climatologist (coincidently works in my department at uni) who's probably studied this longer than I've been alive, against an expert on tropical diseases. Right.

Slightly brainwashed view. Firstly all planets have the exactly the same atmospheric composition don't they! The sun is just one of the forcing factors, there are many greenhouses gases are another which enchance/amplify the warming.

Despite the fact as seel said that is the most moronic view some of you take, even IF it was caused soley by the sun only (which it isnt, only a simpleton would believe that considering the lack of evidence), how does that remotely change the fact we are reaching the climate threshold?

As much as that seems convincing, it offers absoulutly no scientific explanation to anything...

I have not yet seen the first movie (to long for me right now, will tomorrow) so can't say if thats more scientific, but to be honest, anyone can make 3 curves and say that A is observed, B is calculated from natural factors only and C is calculated from natural factors AND human factors, and claim evidence.

The scientific prove is to see how those calculations is done, from what observations?

Besides, in science there is no such thing as the truth, only the path to get close the the truth

And good thing you editted your fact questions away, as I was going to point out that is it absolutly not facts

Besides that, just to clean up from what people might think from my previous post, I do belive in greenhouse gases effect on the enviournement, I am just pointing out that doing the debate one sided does not help prove anything

@Chron: I know, I was referencing another doc I saw on TV a month or so ago. Seen them both.

I know it's not only the sun, but it is one of the bigger factors regarding global warming, there's no doubt that we're not causing some of it. (Not as much as people think we are) But we are doing it.

I shrug my head at this when i saw it. Since it not a real argument that either side can use... Looking at graphs going up and down and concluding some kind of simple relationship in such a complex system is not possible. Especially not when youre looking at such a short timeframe... To make such conclusions you must also have an explanation to why the graphs correlate.

The most convincing arguments ive seen in the discussion so far is the relationship between sunspots and the temperature of the earth. There is a clear correlation between the two datasets and it has even got a very simple and very good explanation. More activity on the sun -> more heat on earth.

Besides, he probarly believes it himself, but even if he didn't, he has been gaining all these 3 things from being so upfront with his view and promoting it...

And in the first 3 minuts of the film, they tell you why scientists would lie about it in the first place: founding (sp?)! If you say you got a problem = money from the government, if you tell them "this might not be a problem", then why should they care?
