there is no way thats our fault!

I've always been sceptical about the climate change being totally our fault tbh, there was a programme on a few months back that made some intersting points

Interesting article.

However it bares no relation to the climate change issue on Earth, other than evidence of climates changing naturally over time. In this case due to the feedback effects of surface albedo's.

Small increase in temp -> Ice gradually melts -> Surface albedo decrases, less energy is reflected back to space, more is absorbed -> this provides more energy to heating the air above -> bigger temperature / pressure gradients at surface -> stronger winds -> dust storms trapping more heat..

'Global warming' is such a media invented term, it's 'climate change'.

If you have a planet full of robots like Optimus Prime driving around guzzling down petrol in their trucks then wtf does Mars expect?

Of course there are natural changes, been that before too, how else would there be ice ages?

But don't think that the scientists haven't thought about this, there's a reason they're doing the job and we aren't ;)

If you read the article you will notice this line:

The mechanism at work on Mars appears, however, to be different from that on Earth.

so if the article is true it means that the whole global warming issue will stay exactly the same.

An ice age would be cool, that little squirrel is so funny.

Playing devils advocate
Noone denies th earth has a natural cycle, however existance of man increases the rate by which it occurs
We arent prepared for an ice age/rising sea levels so its delaying the inevitable so something can be done

And tbh there needs to be research into alternate fuel sources, which is occuring because of the public attention put on global warming

I have always had a tendency to go with what most of the worlds scientific community has been saying for a while with regards to global warming, however, in the last few months i have started to read and see a lot of reports and studies that are really blowing holes in the whole warming scenario.

This is just another example of this..........

Consensus Shattered As Major Scientific Study Says Global Warming Is Natural

Now i think everyone accepts that a lot of the studies out there are sponsored and paid for by companies or bodies that have vested interests in companies that are considered directly responsible for the global warming. But i dont believe that every study is paid up propaganda.

The original Mars article is good in the sense that it shows quite clearly that the climate will change and change dramatically, regardless of human activities.

This is precisely why i've not been giving a shit about this carbon footprint bollocks since it started. It's just another sodding way for people to feel good about themselves and so the government can slap tax on the "green" ways of living.

Will I keep using bins and recycle bins when I can be arsed? Yeah I do that anyway.

Will it stop me from using my car, heating my house, using my PC for very prolonged periods of time as well as my xbox, hdtv, and everything else in my house? No, fuck you 'green' lifestyle.

Burning fosil fuels does release other chemicals than CO2, the majority of which are linked to cancer. Regardless of whether or not we are the cause of global warming we should reduce the number of fossil fuels we burn and look for cleaner fuel sources.

Infact I'm all for pumping money into the research of nuclear power to produce a more efficient and cleaner method of fusion/fission. Each country could then generate their own power.

everyone knows its natural, however there is evidence that we are speeding up the process (theres a long post somewhere im sure a search would di git up), and we are ill-prepared to deal with the after effects.
thats the whole point of carbon footprints, kyoto etc etc. its not about stopping, it its about delaying it so mechanisms can be put in place to tackle the problem
I personally would rather be safe than sorry, either way theres no harm in removing toxins from the atmosphere and we are going to run out of fuel anyway so might be an idea to get alternatives

I think that you might be missing what the two articles are getting at. Reading the Mars article i get the impression that what they are saying is that this fast rising temperature is not so unnatural as scientists would have us believe. If the temperature has varied so much on Mars without any sort of human factors (carbon emmissions) then why should it be such a shock to see the same thing on earth?

....and we are ill-prepared to deal with the after effects....

I think you will find that we are ill prepared for the smallest changes in weather, just take a look at England every time it snows the way the whole country grinds to a halt. Heaven forbid some thing far more drastic.

....thats the whole point of carbon footprints, kyoto etc etc. its not about stopping, it its about delaying it so mechanisms can be put in place to tackle the problem....

Ok but if the carbon isnt what is causing the problem?

A lot of human activities are unsustainable at there current levels and need to be curtailed. The massive consumption that we see of resources is just unreal. We kill billions of fish, contaminate fresh water sources, destroy forests, take up precious habitat of millions of species of animals to make way for farms, the constant reduction in bio-diversity etc.

I would rather see money spent on stuff like this then on global warming esp if they are now telling us that carbon emmissions are not the cause of the warming but rather the suns activities.

at least one of the articles is not unbiased by any means, It is a proposal by senit. the US is known to be against any emission reducing policies as proved by their resistance in the latest climate summit

However you are right there is evidence for and against the issue, saying it is a closed book is a very uninformed view of the subject as there is alot of scientists on either side of the fence.
Whether or not it is true?, i dont know but making a difference to the crazy amounts of pollution we produce is not a bad thing in the long run either way

I think that you might be confused, this isnt a paper done by the Senate but rather it is available on there website. I know that they are dead set against doing anything related to global warming but i think that if you go check out there library, for example, its one of the most comprehensive listings of books articles etc in the world. A great source of information if you know how to fish there.

Optimus comes from Cybertron not Mars! :)
