Glastonbury 2003

I see the Glastonbury Festival for 2003 has been approved finally. I've never been, I've always been one of its most ardent critics (old punk at heart) but well, thanks to the gf, it looks like I'll be going this year.

Unfortunately thanks to flipping being at work and our system blocking about 50% of the net, I can't find out how much it is this year. I did manage to get to some online ticket place that I'd never heard of that had "weekenders tickets" for £175?!!!!

Blimey thats a bit frigging steep. Could someone do me a big favour and check how much tickets are pretty please?

Apart from the price, I hear the Stones are going to play (well rumour) and REM are headlining the first night. REM are ok but the Stones should have fucked off years ago. Any news on other bands etc? And will any of you monkeys be going? :)

TIA

Tickets

It is anticipated that 2003 festival tickets will be put on sale during March, when details of the ticket outlets will be posted on this site. No decisions have been made about ticket prices - as the conditions of the licence will influence the overheads and hence the price.

Any tickets for sale at this time have not been sanctioned by the festival. Some unscrupulous web sites are selling tickets to next year's festival without authority or any allocation of tickets. We strongly advise that people do not purchase tickets from any outlet until the ticket sales have been announced on this web sitemore info here....

I refuse to go now that they've made the fence really difficult to jump over. That was half the fun !

Plus I'm getting old and don't like sleeping in cow-shit any more :(

I will be going. Last year was £100 for the weekend, so it'll (going by the normal price increase) be about £105 this year.

Shovel gave you the link you need for info.

Its a bit early for band info, and they've become a bit shit about giving it out since last year...rather than tel you who is playing as they confirm, they do an exclusive magazine article (Q, NME?) not long before. Because they now sell out far enough in advance they can get away with it.

Damn, its just not sounding as good as it used to be.

The Greenfields are still just the same as they always were, so I think I'll spend my festival hiding up there.

I probably won't go, but if a few bands I want to see end up playing I might do.

I'll share you sleeping bag, X ;)

I remember spending 4 hours in the early morning in my tent having a telepathic conversation with my trainers. They seemed to be smiling at me.

Stonehenge was the real thing, Glastonbury is the paying folks alternative.
However , as it finished in 1984 Ill forgive most of you for not having been there :)

On an almost unrelated item... I notice that Tenacious D are still touring. Should I go? Summo? Scooba? Didn't you go?

They are worth seeing for comedy value as they are amusing if nothing else.

The music they write is average although Fuck her gently has nice tune

I would've been 21. A mate went in the '70s and was threatened by a hairy arsed Hell's Angel's axe.

I went to Glastonbury (the town) the week after the last festival - there were still quite a few bemused casualities wandering around. The Greenfields would be the pull for me methinks.

Kinda medium age I would have said :)
Actually joking apart , I was working with this old bloke years ago. He was in his late sixties, and had been in the army in Palestine, and then done some stuff in Angola and what have you. He was ok tbh. Anyway, he once said to me "oh Id love to be 30 again", to which I said "30 ? Not 20?" , as I was about 25 or so at the time, he said "no, when you're 30 you're young enough to enjoy life, but old enough not to make a twat of yourself" , or words to that effect.
Im now 38, and Im beginning to understand what he meant :)

Might have been me though.

Thats one of the great things about Glastonbury. You get the bus there, loads of happy, smiling, drinking, smoking young people.

You get the bus back with all these half-dead, untalking young people who turn green when you offer them a spliff.

No stamina.
