Giving up Diet Coke

After reading all of the side effects on Aspartamine, I have decided to give up Diet soft drinks and just stick to water.

It's going to be hard (going from 2 cans a day to 0) but I don't want brain cancer :<

I made my wife give up Diet Coke because she was drinking obscene amounts of it. In fairness to her she has went from about 3 cans a day to maybes 1 or 2 a week.

Ok, 27 years here, from which 22 i've been using aspartamine in everything. I'm a diabetic. In drinks, coffe, food, everything where you'd use sugar, i've been using aspartamine. And my condition? A 100% healthy male, if you exclude the diabetes that is.

It's a scare, nothing more, nothing less and the amount in normal every day use is ridicilously low. You have a better chance of getting some brain tumor(or nasty stuff like that) from taking a dump.

I'm not saying drinking water isn't healthier, just saying this whole aspartamine sh*t is another one of these scares that goes in the history books. Cellphones...games...etc...

Well the fact I am suffering some of the side effects listed of aspartamine already its enough to make me give up whilst I only have the minor ones. Thanks but untill your 80 and cancer free I won't take your word for it.

In Finnland the aspartame in diet coke has been replaced with a substance called "sukraloosi" in finnish. Dunno what the name is in english but should be something similar to that Its much healthier than aspartame ive heard.

Yeah we do. Your replacement sounds like Sucralose here, which i believe is a sugar free sweetener.

Actaully I had some symptoms then then when I was reading them today they all are simptoms registered with aspartamine.

I don't go for every scare going to be honest, I ate beef during BSE, I ate eggs during egg scare yada yada, but I am saying ingesting a nerotoxin in large quanities is prolly not good for you. I'm not sayiing give up diet coke, just saying dont drink 2/3 cans a day of the shit. Ingesting anything in large quanities is not good for you.

Im also diabetic, the advice I got was to mix my sweeteners around so I didn't have the same type all the time. Fact is sweeteners are relatively new so any idea about the long-term side effects will probably be speculation.

You do know that if you compare those symptoms to a number of other problems, you'd get quite a list of what you "might have".

Not having the technical terms or lists with me without a thorough google search:

Heart failure, thin/thick blood problem, brain tumor, astma, "paranoia" desease(heh), you know...quite a wide spread on your symptoms. Smoking 'erbs maybe?

Like i said, it's a good thing to kick the habit of guzzling soda's, but i'm quite a 100% sure it's not aspartame that's causing it.

If you're worried about saving your teeth, then stop drinking carbonated drinks full stop - the carbonic and particularly phosphoric acid in coke especially will do far more damage to your teeth than the sugar will.

Although the urban myth about coke being able to dissolve a tooth overnight has been dispelled, when I audited a Coca Cola factory from an environmental aspect and saw the sheer quantities of phosphoric acid used and how much care they took when handling it, it really makes your mind boggle to think they put it in what you drink.
