Dont understand this facination for sportscars myself. 99% of the people that find them so wonderful will never be able to afford one, and even if you can afford one there isnt much you can actually use it for, besides being a trafic hazard, or looking silly when the police pull you over and take your license etc.

It's a piece of engineering history thats why, hats off to VW for achieving it

The millions people spend on alcohol,smoking,entertainment etc etc
The thousands you spend on buying a descent home when a flat is sufficent
The monthly fee you spend on your internet connection + daoc could feed 1 person for a few days when you could go to your local library and do the same
All could feed hundreds of people in a third world country for months if not years.

Personally i believe these hand-outs western society give to third world countries are to blame for their degregation. Why grow your own food when someone is going to give you it for nothing.
Cruel maybe, but personally i believe charity in the form of hand-outs has done more harm than good.

I watched Top Gear and was blown away by the sheer beauty and awed by the colossal engineering genius of the Bugatti Veyron. There's a two-pager in the Daily Mail on it today.

At top speed, the engine sucks in 10000 gallons of air a minute
Its costs £100 to fill the tank up
At top speed your petrol would last 12 minutes

The cost is about £820,000. Its costs VW £5,000,000 to make each car. But getting hold of the million pounds is the easy bit. The choker is that only 300 are going to be made, with most of them heading for excited owners in the middle east. Lucky gits.

If you want to drive anything faster and still stay on the ground, you'll need to head out into the desert and drive something with a rocket on the back of it.
