Give me back my forums

What's going on? People have invaded my home with fit-inducing avatars and bizarre, un-amusing threads. :/

I want my forums back. Kez - post something rude just so I can feel at home again.

(PS. Threads such as this don't help, I know, but I'm drunk, so sue me.)

Me and TdC were talking about this earlier. Just seems a lot of new people are extremist in their views and post completely useless/boring threads. On this page for threads I'd struggle to find more than 3/4 threads that i've posted on :/

I dunno. :(

I do like the word, 'threads'.

I do like your helmet, Summo. Quite fetching, if I may be so bold.

You may. And I am rather pleased with it. Finest US military M-1 helmet with fiber and plastic liner, circa 1942.

I was whirling around 1942, in my estimations.

Worn by the late Sir Thomas Elding, during the battle for the Reigh, if I'm not mistaken.

Correct. Well observed. I believe it was this very battle in which he stood on the bridge near the Golden Eagle Farm held his helmet aloft and loudly declared "See the high-quality felt lining you Nazi bastards!"

Of course, the lining was removed to cut costs in 1943, but the sentiment remains.

This is true. Though, in Sir Elding's writings, entitled 'Where's my Felt Lining', published in 1946. The war veteran spoke of his chilling discovery of that very lining, in a reputable brothel, just east of London. To this day it has been held as a sacred sensual tool in the extra-marital services of gentlemen, throughout capital.

I thought that essay was proven to be a forgery? My memory fails me on this point, however. There is a very amusing anecdocte often attributed to British Naval Attaché Henry Denham on this very subject. The details of which escape me but it's very amusing. Really.

Yeah, I noticed the sudden influx of Newbies here too.

But surely that is a good thing?

We old-timers must get out our comfort zones and welcome the new ideas and views of these members. It will also stop things going stale like they were a few months back.

Juts hope it isn't some stealth invasion by the J*lt lot that's all.

ooh :D

still I agree with what BB said [as he and I were blah blah etc] although it looks a bit different in the daylight. anyhoo....this reminds me to say that we generate the content of this forum. in effect, we are the forum. now, as I've just totally forgotten the line of reasoning I was going to take, I hope you can make something of my early morning ramblings :)

Nope, sorry TdC. Your point that we are the forums so we make it what it is, if you don't like it, change it concept, is completely baffling.

I think.

must admit...am slightly more awake now and having some problems understanding it myself heh.
I was on about it being us who provide the content of this forum. Everyone, even our new peeps, make this place what it is. However, a newbie dropping in and screwing up [normal behaviour, nothing to be put off about], but then going on to ignore all subtle [and not so subtle] hints on forum decorum [ooh] and ending up on the ignore list of half the people in at the time...well, that's beyond my ablilty to process atm.

hmmm, I believe the original point I was attempting to make was much better. do forgive my earlymorningness :(
