What are the best bang for the buck nowdays? Is it ATI or Nvidia?

I'm looking at Asus Radeon HD6870 1GB, what would the comparative Nvida card be?

All the cards are there, performance reviews with graphs don't get much more competitive then that

GTS 460 looks really nice for the money though.

Looking at the AVP benchmark, what am i missing? 5870 crushing 6870 in FPS?
