Gfx card problems!

Hi, I today reinstalled windows due to a problem with spyware/viruses that either couldn't be found by the scanners i had or weren't being deleted properly.

Anyway, after i reinstalled i d/led some gfx card drivers and tried to installed them. However, before the installation could start i got this error message;

Severe
Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

Now, me being a n00b, i have no idea what this means So any help will be appriciated

Card - ATI Radeon 9200
OS - WinXp Home
Drivers Tried - Catalyst 3.7 & 3.5.

reboot the machine and hold the f8 key to get into the load menu options. Select start in vga mode. Install drivers. reboot. Tada!
