Yesterday my 8800gt started pushing up daisies , vertical yellow lines across the screen even in the bios.

Ive had it for 19 months and if the manufacturers warranty isnt more than 12 months ill be after a new card.

I am totally clueless with graphics cards these days , never bothered since my 8800gt ran everything.

Other system specs are...

msi p35 neo2
e4600 @ near enough 3 gig
4gb corsair xms2 pc-6400

an audigy 4 (i think)

and my psu is an enermax 620

What brand of graphics card is it? If it's BFG you're in luck, lifetime warranty! :)

From what I can tell from their site, their warranties are either 2 or 3 year so you should be good to get it replaced. With any luck, they'll upgrade you to something more recent.

Ahh ok ,thank you , i only found warranty info for the ichill series.

I sent in a support form earlier but wont get the reply for a few days , this thread was mainly to find out what i could get if i have to buy a new card.

If they replace the card with another 8800gt id be happy with that.

If you had to buy one, the 4870 is now round about £100 and I still have yet to find any game that it can't run on max settings with... not sure if you'd get the same with that spec but you wouldn't have to worry about it being even remotely slow ;)

For around £130 the 5870 (iirc) can run DirectX11 now too, although there are only 1 or 2 games running that thus far ;) Personally I'm not so sure I'd bother with it though... you can always get a 4870 now and crossfire later on with a newer card :)

5750 should be just a few pounds higher than a 4870.

It'll be teh 5770 at 130 - 5870 is a LOT more :D

Shop around a bit and you might pick up a 5770 for 110-115 if you're lucky and have the full DX11 goodness (believe me, playing dirt2 is enough to want it)

Well i got a reply from inno3d in broken english saying take it back to the reseller for a warranty check , told them i bought it online from ebuyer and they say they only have 12 month warranties with ebuyer.

After a bit of research im pretty certain at the time of purchase it was 24 months, although i could be wrong , ive rang ebuyer and waiting for them to get back to me.

Theres an asus hd5770 for £120 on ebuyer (with 3 year warranty) that ill purchase if i cant resolve anything with the 8800gt. Theres a cheaper one but its Sapphire and ive had bad experiences with them in the past.

Anything electrical sold in the EU has to come with a 2 year warranty.

You might have to fight to get it but all companies operating in Europe have to comply with that. I know recently some of the larger supermarkets and retail stores in the UK have fallen foul of it.

At the end of the day it will come down to how much patience you have and whether that policy covers just electrical goods or components too. I'd have thought a graphics card would be covered the same way a computer was.

Just had an email from the tech support guy at ebuyer and they are gonna let me return it :)

Dont know if they will offer me an alternative or maybe a credit note , seems they dont sell 8800GTs anymore.

OMG they have electricity in Sunderland now?!?! :p ;) :D

Just joking, nice result on the RMA, there is a good chance you will get a 9800 in return as ebuyer still stock those. A 10-20% speed improvement for free is always nice. :)

Friend of mine did an RMA through ebuyer, he just got a credit note for the amount he paid. Granted it was only about 8 months old but still, you may end up just getting your dosh back :).
