I'm sure a lot of people have this where they cant start on work until the last minute, I don't know why but I write better under pressure and usually dont start work till the night before something is due and often leave it too late to complete something to a good enough standard.

How do I cure myself of being a twat?

Don't ask me. My editors would probably pay you good money if you could cure me of it too.

Well. I do it, but it's no problem as i spew class stuff as a result. I'm always waiting, thinking, finetuning etc before i sit down and do it.

If you're waiting for the last minute and STILL get nothing done, then you're just a lazy git and should just apply to a McD burgerboy position.

Oh and as this is a "HELP" thread....don't do it!

If you got a job you need to write, just sit the f*ck down and write it.

"But i have to..and then i gotta....uhuhuh....i have to also....with the mates and"

If you want to get "cured" of this, sit down and write the f*cker straight away and dump all the rest your so eagerly waiting to do.

I left everything to the last minute, in fact I invented the art of leaving things to the last minute. I remember once at uni I started a 5000 word essay the night before. Still got a 2:2 for it as well!

Same here. I find pressure a superb motivator. Been a lastminutemeister since I was a wee lad.

Was the same for me and atleast 4 out of the 5 other people on my course at college.

We did a trickle of work when we got it, but we would never really put our hearts into it untill the week, day or sometimes hour before it was due.

No idea why its like this, would rather work equally over the whole period of time, as I believe I'd produce better results like this, but I can never really bring myself to do it. :(

The best cure is to fuck up - leave it too late, and fail. In future, you'll be better motivated not to do so any more.

Edit: by which I mean completely fail, rather than just 'not very good'.

Just don't do this with your wedding or childbirth :D

I'm the same - at uni I'd always leave assignments and essays til the day before before I started them 'properly'. I might throw some ideas down on paper beforehand but not actually start constructing it til the night before.

I lived with housemates on the same course so we'd pull an allnighter and club together and everybody would get it done with minutes to spare.

I'm much the same, though I must admit that as I grow and become more and more experienced in a working environ I discover that it pays to do stuff well in advance of the last minute.

I'm currently suffering from it bad. I've got 800 words to read, and a 2.5k essay to write for Wednesday morning. It's going to have a shit Tuesday. :(
