• Use a key
• Use a pen
• Grow fingernails and use them down a gap
• Find the little red strip and pull

my dad actually bought some widget from the states (no not specially, he picked it up when he was there) that you slide down the side, it has a little blade in it that fits perfectly over the edge of the case. The end result is a nicely slit open film thing. Easy to rip off after that.

i have a leatherman wave specifically for this purpose

and numerous others knives.... long ago found that it pays to have a knife in every single room in the house..
