Just a tip for all you doing AS/A levels over the next few years, the examiners are complete twats.

I completed my A level history last year, and came out with a C which i was pretty pissed at as i was on target for an A the whole of last year. Today i went in to see my History teacher who tells me in one of the modules i got 17/120. After ringing the examines he found out they had in fact not added both parts of the answer together, they only marked me on the out of 20 bit, not the out of 100 bit.

I have had a whole summer thinking i fucked up my A levels thanks to some retard not being able to do maths./ :puke:

/rant off just wanted to get it off my chest.

Mistakes happen, the papers are all marked by people, and people inherently make mistakes. It's inevitable, rather stupid questioning their intelligence over 1 paper in the hundred's they mark..

It happened to 3 people out of my class of 20. Two of didn't get into their chosen uni because of it.

Two of didn't get into their chosen uni because of it.

If it was simply because of a paper mix up, they could get in after it was cleared.

I'm thinking there's more to their "lack of success" then a simple paper mixup.

Like..oh...not good enough in other ways?

People do have a tendency to be whiney when things don't go their way, and not whiney when they get treated ok, but others don't.

Slow bank line? Whine whine!
Someone complains about a slow bank line? Same person says "stop whining".

Humans, prrt.

It wasn't really a mixup just really poor marking, the teacher got the scripts back and they were marked much lower than they deserved.

It's a big difference between A B C when your applying though especially when your chosen subject at uni is history.

if the batch is labelled wrong the paper may have misplaced/mislabelled or more than likely the person filling in the manuscripts has shit hand writing/marked them wrong/didnt bind them correctly etc etc..

I have seen how they mark papers, they are marked and random samples are taken and marked again for verification depending on the paper and subject.
If the sheets arent attached the marker will just fill in what is there and move on, someone messed up along the line (be it you or someone else) but it is plain ignorant to blame the person marking it as there could be any number of factors. The fact of the matter remains that the vast majority of papers are marked correctly, so it's hardly done by "retard"'s

idd the retards at the exam boards didnt realise tht josh wilson and joshua wilson frmo the same college were the same person. So my physics results came out pretty shit. But got into my chosen uni anyway, just talked to the head of my department for awhile and blagged way in etc always worth the try.

Still, you get my point.

If it's a clerical error, and it's the only thing holding back getting into certain uni, then it can be cleared.

But usually people just complain and blame the error, instead of saying "Well, it could be me also."

If your spelling was anything like your post, could you blame them?

Why change your name from Josh to Joshua, it's your own fault.

The fact is that exam results can affect the rest of your life. Any mistakes resulting in lower grades might mean you won't get the University of your choice.

I'd hardly say "mistakes happen" is a good enough reason for it.

hehe, i didn't mean it like that, my spelling is just as bad. But examiners are human to, if you fuck up loads then they are going to get annoyed and just mark you shit-le to start with.

afaik they are not actually allowed to use poor spelling against you what with some children not being arsed to learn to spell and using spell checker...these are seen as being children from poor back grounds (unable to afford dictionary etc etc) so it would be prejudice against class

[disclaimer: if there is anything factual in the above statement it is purely coincidental]
