Even though I used to play Q3A almost every night back in the day, I didn't jump straight back in when I got into the closed beta of QuakeLive a few months ago.
1st try was underwhelming, mainly because I was shit, having completely forgotten how fast it is and was getting owned in the face by everyone else on the server ad ofcourse the old quake community feeling was missing, none of the usual wireplay names, barrysworld, even the newbs from jolt!
But I came back to it a couple of months later and now I'm loving it, steadily improving and it's almost like the good old days.
So if you're having trouble getting the old feeling back and feel like chucking it in and giving up, keep at it! Jump onto irc, shoot the shit with some other oldschool quakers and lets get gibbin!
