Tell me why for the uk server we seem to be going through stockholm? surely the uk server should be in the uk?


so i try and reconnect after LD and ur client dloads the 1.60b US versoin??????? how fucked up

then i try and patch and it runs at 1k a sec coz so much congestion on your servers

and this is my first day back in a while, makes me wonder why i came back

opentransit just has routers to.

I report problems (High latencyand PL) on those routers to GOA.. If you get a reply back you are doing well.

and for all my hatered for GOA you can hardly expect them to move the servers to the UK???

as for that patch thing... someone came up with a good solution using file atttributes to protect the file from being modified. Just take the attribute off when you know a patch is coming...

can be done from DOS

attrib + (or -) R (i think) pathname\filename
or summin like that.

attrib +R "c:\shrouded isles" /s
should do the job. You might want to remove read-only on your settings files though.
Also can be done by right-clicking the folder in windows and checking the read-only box.

i would recomend just changing the attrib on the update.dat file thingy not all the SI files... that to me would sound like a recipe for disarster.

I want a positive change, not a negative one. British (English) servers (hosted in Uk) would be crap, they would go down for tea time like every afternoon (in a good day). However the Germans would probably be the most fitted, if you don’t mind the language barrier. Have to say even a Scandinavian server, due to their progress in all IT related areas, and ‘often’ high professionalism. Never mind that they also talk with a silly accent.

has it not occured to you that the servers are in france for a reason? such as wannadoo and goa are both french companies?

Then they should make it more clear that the servers are split by language spoken only

They make it out as if the servers are for a country due to location

anyways ive been trying to down patch to 1.57 again and the rate of transfer is a laughable 3k a second with adsl

I tried just changing the update.dat to read only. It does nothing you still get the US version. Three times now this has happened to me. Tho not for over a week now. Hope it never happens again. Reinstalling SI ain't a fun way to start the evening.
