Before you form any kind of opinion - this is intended as a PEACEmaking thread. No ... post. A peacemaking post. Here goes... ;)

There is a forum called Jolt, and the most popular community within is for the game of SOF, and in that community we have some people who like to spam harmless nonsense/conversation/drivel for fun. We'll often make a dedicated thread for such people.

We now have servers at BW also. The community still resides at Jolt, so the forums are quiet here. One fun-loving Swedish guy thought he'd just start a fun spam thread HERE - if only in an attempt to get people to join in, and to encourage participation. No other reason, I assure you, he is quite harmless.

I understand that spamming is not viewed kindly here. The guy in question did not know. The guy in question was not asked nicely. The guy in question did not react then in the BEST of ways, and gradually everybody's 'friends' joined in.

Of course we will stick up for our own, just as you will for yours. All I originally asked for is a little politeness and consideration, and the minimum respect you give to someone who's new and might just be 'okay'.

I'm sure many of you guys are just as 'okay'! None of us are going to find out, though, while we're slagging each other off etc. I'm a part of it. I'm sorry for my part - I think it's a waste of time, and won't get us anywhere.

I'm extending the hand of friendship, in an attempt to say - "Let's all stand back, think about this - maybe re-introduce ourselves, and start again."

I'm prepared, are you?

Of course, you can follow this with a flame, but please think carefully before you post something which simply isn't constructive. We all had some fun tonight, some of it was a little out of hand, and I'm sure you'll agree it makes sense to put this all where it belongs - WELL AWAY!

So ... we got a deal?

No threats, no nothing - it's done, and it's forgotten. Please do not discuss further actions etc. here - I repeat, this thread is a genuine attempt to make peace. I really hope I didn't waste my time, as I think this is worthwhile.

TBH we do get other spamming, like Moo (Which I hated and thought was pointless), here but it tends to involve more than just one person ;)

General forum is full of loads of shit, it also tends to be the place where most of the forum members involved tend to hang out so it's well positioned.

Yeah ok, but I was trying as much as possible to stay well clear of this, as was the events with Glynners kept seperate to the mainstream.

Jolly good show for making a sensible move towards resolution though UKRich.

If theres no stupid spam (i.e. posting consecutive numbers in posts) then theres no problem.

The guy (Burr or summit) had it on his private forum that he was going to make the BW forums unusable by spamming every thread with a load of mates.

The threads on his forum are password protected now

I mean, its like, democracy and diplomacy ... Its really not on, its too boring, its bland.

[you see, I seem to remember a time when the um jolt forum was rather flustered by a visit from me [amongst others]. all matters were resolved then [and now too I hope], and I even made some new friends. I still drop in the spam forum there every now and then to see how they all are doing :)]

At this juncture I would like to point out that they are only forums..not major states with an arsenal of nuclear weapons at their disposal.

I would of liked to see them try and spam this place. :upyours:

dunno about that. No point inviting this kind of stuff imo. :/
would have made things shit round here for a while, nasty flame wars and ruining perfectly good threads/discussions. (I'll let you know when we have one ;) )

Na - we would just have to make use of the ignore button a little more. I doubt that they would be able to distrupt the community that much.

I suspect that after a few days they would get bored of being constantly ignored.

The FAQ here really needs "BE NICE AND DON'T POST EXCESSIVE SH*TE" in large letters at the top. That's about all really...

When i originally posted my (warnings?), was it not in a decent manner as far as i remember? i gave you fair warning without the use of offensive language.

Not saying im not prone to seshions of spam myself, just that i hate counting spam or whatever its called. If it stops, im happy :)

Noticed you had someone on "ignore", but still you read his posts, so it seems ignoring helps nothing. Or are you just interested and like these flame threads?
Not an attack, just a question.
I for one, like the occasional flames and stuff, brings some diversion in my utterly boring job.
Remarks posted Bodhi and Kez makes me laugh, it's just a statement they haven't got anything reasonable to say, and in an attempt to be funny and popular make those kind of remarks. No probs with me and it seems to work for them as most of you think no thread is complete without an "insult"-post by them.
Just my opinion btw, not intended as a flame, just my opinion.
And beeing ignored doesn't bother me, think both "community's" would be better off sticking to their own forum, as we will never come to a 100% peace if people interfere who would like to infect you with Ebola on a stick. (for the record: Ebola travels through air)

Pardon me for my English as i am Dutch. (just telling coz else someone might come up with a smart remark about my spelling).

Fair Play. It appears Jolt has it's fair share of good people as well as idiots, like here (ho hum)

And Bodhi's insult you're bound to not see the funny side of. If someone else came up with a random insult at that level it wouldn't be praised. But I can't be bothered to explain it :p
