Hey dudes!

My sisters looking for a laptop for around £500. She uses it mostly for photoshop (shes doing graphic design at uni) and music and facebook (ofc).

I've looked at some samsung models like this one; LINKY but after reading reviews theres some complaints about the screen res.

Tried looking at lenovo's but (although its a shame) I'm not sure she would be sold on a name shes not heard of, if theres a decent one though I can try to persuade her. Also looked at dells etc, cant really find anything that stands out, but please prove me wrong!

I think shes after minimum 3gig ram, mini 300gig HD, I would prefer an i3 processor (I guess the i5 is out of that price range anyway).

Cheers in advance guys!

If it's photoshop, how important is colour accuracy?

Do not buy the Acer, pile of shit, worst over heating problems and design I've ever seen. Personally I'd go Sony or Samsung.

Thanks guys

Big G, Yeh I think the problems were with resolution, not colour.

Cheers Zenith, I've recommened the samsung and lenovo to her, Maybe the bigger screen is enough to swing it for the samsung though.

Samsung and Lenovo make decent kit. Acer and HP (consumer machines) are built from twigs and used johnnies.

I had a lenovo i3 which had a hardware fault between the gfx chip and the screen - kept losing the display signal.

Sent it back and got a Sony Vaio i3, which I am pretty happy with. I run Adobe Illustrator on it no problems.

My only grip is that I wish I'd paid a bit extra for the uprated display.

another vote for Lenovo here, never had a sammy so can't comment on those. They seem to be quite well recommended though. Funny thing with HP kit is that their compaq branded laptops are quite well built, but their HP branded one's are almost as bad as dell.
