I'm sure I or someone else started a thread about this, or mentioned it somewhere but I can't find it so I'm starting a new one, big woop, wanna fight about it?
Ed Burns (not the actor) and David Simon, the creative GODS behind The Wire are behind this new HBO miniseries, and so far it's really very good. It's about a group of marines and an embedded (Rolling Stone Magazine!?) journalist on the start of the current Iraq war. It's got a very similar feeling to The Wire in that it's just showing things like the are, no political stance here, just people doing what they do, make of it what you will.
Well acted, well written, based on a book penned by that same Rolling Stone reporter who was actually embedded with these marines. One of the marines is actually playing himself.
Check it out, it's super duper.
