General Question Re:Staff Procs

Do caster staff procs (i.e. jolt etc) go off when you cast a DD or DoT on someone, or just when you melee them? (e.g. BW/AM/RP staffs)

Contemplating if it's worth doing the Epic T4 quests for a few chars while i'm grinding towards the inf rewards.

WoW/war aint as "all-knowing" as we were in daoc... I don't think you'll get an answer, BinarySurfer.. I remember daoc had people (archers) shooting 50,000+ shots, to find out proc%, now that's research right there.

Staffing is my best guess, that said takes 30 mins to do the Epic Q to get the Staff then go staffing low levels mobs to find out

I remember that. Having four or five various proccing weapons and spending many a drunken night trying to calculate whether the proc bubble offhand was more valuable than the extra dd damage from a comparable weapon. Pages of excel calculations and my old uni notes on stats scattered all over the place...

The conclusion was, spec bow coz rangers shouldnt be melee anyway

My T3 staff procs it's dot/snare all the time on RoF and other stuff.
I haven't done the epic quests so I cant say with certainty if those do proc, but it should.
