well I thought I'd go check out the general forums and try to integrate with the masses there...

they are more spammy and full of conversational threads than eot ever was...

I got into a 1 interesting well informed debate and I've already been accused of trolling the boards.

next time anyone complains about spamming on these boards I'm just going to start linking there!

heh, I haven't looked like that for a while, I have 0 hair these days and can't be arsed dressing up to go out any more... my club kid days are well over!

The general boards do have a level of 'spam' and 'chatty threads' just like any forum will from time to time. The difference between general and eOT is that it's a wide array of different people having their spammy moments rather than the same select group doing it all the time. That said, and I've said it before, eOT does seem to be a bit less spammy than it's BW counterpart at the moment and if things stay as is and don't deteriorate I think it's generally acceptable.

With regard troll comments I felt they were'nt really justified based on that thread and I hope you continue the debate sensibly and maturely. Please don't be put off by one or two testing jibes - they will happen as they do to everybody. In my experience if yoiu let them have a bit of fun to begin you'll soon get to know the characters around the place and settle in well.

Last point: Are you brother to someone I know?

The point Nath (I think) was making was the mods should take action against people invading the boards and going mad Anyway, you guys are fairly well-versed in modding requirements, so lets have your (constructive please) comments on that thread too

Possibly.. my brother has been online for a lot longer than me. Goes by the name of Marcus and lives in south london. He gets about a bit and knows far more people than I do.

The troll comment is water off a ducks back here. 10+ years of usenet and other odd assorted forums have given me a pretty thick skin and TBH the call of troll is usually used by those as a cheap shot to ruin a good debate. And that was turning out to be an interesting debate, although I was guilty of minor flamebaiting which I do hold my hands up to.

Actually, the only thing about the General boards I'm interested in beyond good conversation is where the animosity toward the DAoC community comes from. For instance: Swift's reply.

I think it MAY have something to do with Sicko and some other OT threaders invading the General boards on BW, back at the "beginning".

I'm probably wrong, however. God knows, I'm no "regular" poster, if by regular you mean loads of replies per day

Still, I'd be interested to know where it all started. Been bugging me for ages, especially when I see the posts attacking one or another community member for so-called spamming or post farming when all they do is reply to the several threads they're subscribed to/interested in.

To be honest it wasnt the oversized pictures of attractive women that slowly degenerated into harcore porn that disturbed me. It was the ammount of times that they announced that they were wanking or going to get the loo roll. Frankly I find a group of men pronouncing that pictureA will satisfy them for longer than PictureB quite unnerving!

Heh, I thought I'd fly the flag for eot to raise our profile by getting into intelligent informed debate.

Unfortunately they don't seem to be able to do that. I even tried to get into an intellectual flame war with swift but all he could do it produce base insults.
