Ok, so basically i'm wanting to upgrade my gfx card on a pretty low budget, currently have an 8800gt 512mb, was basically wondering if it's worth bothering with the 9800gt as i'm really unsure on the performance difference.

Would it be worth going to a 9800gt 1gb for around the £90 mark that i seem to be finding them at?

I'm not the most clued up on this but I'm pretty sure that's really very much not worthwhile at all. For an extra £20 ish you could get yourself a nice ATI 4850 or 4870 I expect, I think they're quite a bit better.

This, for example, looks pretty nice.

9800GT is the 8800GT on newer architecture so you wont see a massive improvement. also bear in mind most 8800GT use 1x 6pin power cables and the 9800 use 2x

4870 or 4890 would be better imo

I'm kinda wanting a gfx boost on the cheap tbh, what about the 4850's? whats the difference between them and the 8800GT, anyone know?

EDIT: sorry nath misread what you said, thought you also mentioned the 4870 and 4890.

But my question stands, is there a real noticable difference between the performance of the 4850 and the 8800gt?
would a 8800GTX 768mb be worth considering or would i not really gain from it, i run games on a 22" monitor in 1600x1200.

My 8800GT has just failed spectacularly :(

Hoping BFG will warranty it with something better :/

My GTX got warrantied up to an Ultra so it's entirely possible :).
