and no dvd playback isn't exactly a loss to me now, let's see, i have er... two laptops with dvd, two pc's with dvd... two PS2's and 2 standalone DVD players... and getting an xbox soon...... gonna miss dvd? i think not. now yeh i may sound like i have excessive amounts of money but that ain't true... and tbh you don't buy a console as a primary dvd player...

So I suppose everyone has the arsenal of electronics like you do?
The fact is that the PS2 comes with DVD, while the Gamecube is lacking it.

I know for a fact i dont, and as such, having a PS2 means i can watch dvd's and play games without shelling out on two different things. Its more convenient for ickle meh.

Indeed, the reason I brought a PS2 was due to the DVD playback.

Hmm, sounds to me like Nintendo cocked up if they didn't even tell the retailers what price they were gonna sell to them at before announcing what price they expected the retailers to sell to us at :)

Yip, apparently Dixons are doing it for £119.99 plus a tenner deposit.

Neither Eb or Gameplay have changed the prices on their webbys :/

##edit##

They have now :)

i see...

...no new pricing with EB.... they rip you off on games anyway. amazon & play.com are the places to buy games atm, unless you happen to get a discount elsewhere.

and shock horror... dixons does indeed have new low pricing! i wonder what N threatened them with :p well. we know the answer to that.... "low supplies"..

the question becomes now:

what games to get at launch?

Well as it stands...

The XBox has a fair few decent games, but expensive compared to GC.

The PS2 has a few good titles, but not an overly l33t lineup, and its quite far into its life....

The GC has excellent prospects and a nice lineup, plus the nicest controller of all of them.

Nintendo 0wn as far as pads go...

I disagree. The PS2 pad is about as comfy as they come for me.

Gamecube pad is...

...the daddy :p

but the PS2 pad is comfy.... what exactly is wrong with it?

The PS2 pad is the industry standard now. Which the Nintendo faithful have a hard time dealing with.

And I still feel £129 is a bit steep for a Fisher Price toy :/

And the hardware specs are all that matter in a console aren't they Embattle.

who would be...

... lame enough to buy a console just because of how powerful it is anyway?

Xbox owners? ;)

Though, I think the point is that it's not a fisher price toy.
