Gap year

So heres the deal.. Going to the largest outdoor prison in the world for me gap year, Feburary 7th -> August, Spending 10weeks in Melbourne, Then 1 Week travelling up the east coast, Then another 10 weeks in Townsville (Home to the powerpuff girls)

Just wondering if anyones had much experince in these areas and can offer a good insight in stuff to do and see too fill up some of the spare time I may come accross..

i found Melbourne to be great, but 10 weeks is to long really. if you are there anyway i would try and see as much as you can and not just stay in one city for that long.
I went backpacking for one year there and still found myself short on time. just sooo many awsome things to see/do there!
What exaclty you are aiming to do there? personally i went all by myself and worked my way around trying to get to as many places as possible..

Nerf to good party's making me stay in Sydney for 3 whole month's

Melbourne is just a base camp, gunna be spending every week out somewhere else in Victoria, same with Townsville
