Hey. Currently looking to go for a gaming Notebook with me price limit being £1,000. Currently looking at some Alienware ones and I've got my mind (almost) set on this one. So givf info and tips and shit for what I should/shouldn't be going for.

• 128MB ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1400
• 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 1024MB
• 100GB 7200 RPM SATA
• 8x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24x CD-RW Combo with Nero Software
• Intel® High-Definition Audio (24-bit, 192Khz) with surround sound

Got a Razr Diamondback Mouse and an advarage joe MS keyboard to go with it (not that I'll use it).

cant advise you on what to get, but in regards to alienware. From my researching laptop to get about a year ago I noticed a growing tend with gamers going to alienware stating that the equipment was no longer how it was when they got their reputation for high quality. Apparently since Dell took over them they begun to use more generic stuff/lower quality.

Seems typical Dell thing to do, but put your own weight into what is said.

With Alienware you are paying for a brand more than anything....shop around a little and you may find better build quality and components.

Dell and Alienware were always coming up tops for gaming Laptops in all the reviews/tests, Generally Dell use to beat Alienware on Bang for Buck but Alienware won on performance.

I don't know if there are any decent new players out there for gaming laptops but if its going to be between Dell and Alienware then nothing has changed in the last 6 years except Dell now own the only competition they had.

Graphic card is bleh, x1400... depending on wot u want to play. With DAOC it wont have any probs, but with the likes of Quake Wars ET..... im not sure.

Vista's so I can use that "Live for Windows" shit, so I can play games like UT3/Shadowrun on laptop using my Xbox live acc. Didn't have any intentions on using it for Daoc, but for Quake Wars and shit like you said Vasconcelos, I'll keep looking about cuz' I'm not what the specs are for that game, but surely I could just tune them down a bit right?

I didn't buy mine for gaming strangely, I'm just sick to death of wanky Dell laptops and trying to run any advanced stats packages or MassLynx for mass spectroscopy on the stuff uni provides takes epocs to finish. With luck this'll bitch slap my data into order, as it should be! They also do biometric security, but thats just icing realeh.
